(Author's Note: Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Seb, or Lumiosity. I really hope you enjoy this, as I've been planning it for a long time, and I'm glad that I've finally found time to do it. Anyway, once again, enjoy! PS: I do not own My Hero Academia)
They say that your second year of High School is the hardest. Right now, Kasai Toderoki wholeheartedly believed that as he stared uncomprehendingly at the school whiteboard in complete boredom. Maths. Why did it have to be Maths? It was his worst subject by a mile, and his usual strategy of just sitting back and not saying a word had no effect on their teacher, who picked on him at least four times every lesson. Mr Matsuko, who was a large, red faced, pompous prat with thin balding hair and virtually nonexistent eyebrows, was going on and on about some random problem or equation, so, naturally, Kasai drifted off into his own little world. He stared out of the window, waiting for class to end.
Kasai was 17, and tall with sea green eyes and wine red hair. He was slim, but had broad shoulders from a large amount of swimming that he had done in his youth. Although he was gangly, with long legs and arms, he was still rather handsome, but he completely missed the appreciative and longing looks that girls gave him.
Since the retirement of the Pro Hero All Might, the world had become entirely lawless. With no Symbol of Peace to stop them, criminals across the globe were banding together and committing everything from petty robberies to heinous acts of murder. Naturally, the world just wasn't safe anymore, and even though the Pro Heroes were trying as hard as they could, the society that every person on the planet had looked up to was beginning to crumble from corruption. These days, it was hard to be a hero.
Kasai wanted to change all that. He wanted to make the community of Pro Heroes as feared and powerful as it once was: to remove all traces of corruption from the society so that villains across the world would be unable to feel safe when commiting crimes. He wanted people to once again admire the community rather than roll their eyes at heroes and aspiring heroes alike, because it was 'such a useless profession.' He wanted people to feel safe in their homes.
He smiled to himself as his hand wreathed itself in flame.
"Toderoki, eyes up here! Come on kid, do you expect to be a hero if you never pay attention? Also, no quirks in classes! Especially not yours, with that disgusting smell it makes. Can't you control yourself? Maybe an after school detention will help you."
Kasai stared down at his desk, his face turning as red as his hair as the entire class fell into uproar. He mumbled an apology, and glared at Asora Arashiro, who was laughing the loudest. Asora Arashiro was Kasai's best friend at Shiketzu. He had feathery white hair that hung over his bright blue eyes, which still shone with amusement, with the type of face that could attract plenty of girls. The two had been inseparable since childhood. Finally, the bell sounded, signifying the end of class, and all the students started to file out. Kasai stood up hastily, sweeping his books and pencil case away into his bag, ready to rid himself of the hell known as Maths. Asora was waiting for him, still smirking.
"I can't believe he outed you like that!" He chortled, waggling his finger at him before carrying on. "Flagpole, you're gonna need to get yourself in gear! You can't keep wracking up detentions like this!"
He smirked as Kasai gave him the finger and walked a little faster. Asora wasn't short by any means, but Kasai dwarfed him by eight inches, standing at 6,4. Flagpole was Asora's favourite nickname for him, due to his height. The arse liked to be funny. Kasai liked to think it was because when Asora stood next to him he looked about two foot tall.
"Ah, come on Flags, don't be like that! Math is over! Hell is over!"
Being a hero was all Kasai had wanted to do since his quirk had manifested at five years old. He had a fire quirk like his father, but his mother's quirk had thrown a spanner into the works, combining the family flame with her gas quirk. Because of this, his body was filled with a sort of flammable gas that he could light whenever he wanted, allowing himself to create comcentrated blasts of flame. However, if he overused his quirk, the air around him would slowly become compromised and unsafe to breathe in.
