Mornings are the best. You forget everything for a moment, even your dreams and just have a moment of tranquility.
She inhaled a lungful of air and rolled to her side, burying her face into her pillow. Slowly, memories of the night before waltz back into her head and she couldn’t help the smile on her lips that came along with those memories.
The aroma of the coffee beans filled the air as she entered the cafe. She picked the spot near the window, simply because she enjoyed looking out at the pedestrians outside. There were at times little boys would look at her and give her a shy smile which she politely returned then other times, she would be the witness of an argument. Because of that, the humans’ behavior fascinates her and slowly, they become her inspiration to write. She was lost in her thoughts and fascination when she heard someone clearing his throat from across her table. She simply looked up and there stood a tall, brooding, dark haired boy with green eyes staring back at her. She was struck by his beauty that she didn’t hear the words that came out from his mouth. She blinked a few times, to make sure he was actually there and was retrieved back to reality.
"I’m sorry, but what did you say?"
A small smile curved up on one side of his lip.
"Can I sit with you?" he repeated his question.
Again, she blinked a couple of times before her head started nodding three slow nods. She looked around and there were other empty seats but she didn’t question why he wanted to sit with her. She couldn’t help but to stare at him while he pulled out a worn out book from his sling bag, adjust himself comfortably on the chair and started reading. A moment later, his eyes met hers again and a small chuckle escaped his lips before he turned his attention back to his book. She looked away and opened her laptop. She ended up staring at her screen for a good 10 minutes before she fired it up and her fingers started dancing on the keyboard, words spilling out quicker than her ability to type it out.
A moment too soon, she thought, he closed his book and looked at her, exhaling a long sigh. Slowly, she brought her gaze away from her laptop screen - which she named Cecilia - and looked at him. For the third time in a night, his green eyes met her brown ones and a smile played on his lips. She realized they weren’t talking and things were about to get awkward so she cleared her throat and asked if he enjoyed his reading. He answered that he did, as he usually do especially because he had a good company tonight. And just like that, he stood up and casually put the strap of his bag onto his shoulder.
"Same time tomorrow?" he asked before he left.
She managed a nod. Somehow her brain couldn’t function whenever he had those sea green eyes on her.
And he left.
She sighed and stared at her bedroom ceiling. She didn’t even know his name. All she knew was that she was going to see him again that night.
