"Is everything alright?" Newt asked as he wrung his hands together.

Remus walked around the enclosure inspecting everything. The charms and enchantments Newt used in his case still astounded Remus. He attempted to step outside the area but was forced backward by an invisible barrier. "Amazing." He answered truly awed.

The remark pleased Newt and he smiled at Remus. "It works similar to an age line charm but instead of age it senses the physiology of the beings trying to cross the barrier," Newt explained as he steps across the charm to Remus.

"I wish I had known about that sooner. It could have saved me a lot of trouble."

"I'd be happy to teach it to you."

"I'd appreciate that," Remus replied while testing the barrier once more. He was always worried about what might happen after he transformed.

"You will be in control tonight." Newt reminded him as he sensed Remus's unease.

"I hope," Remus admitted doubtfully. A look of pain flashed across his face as the first effects of the moon took hold over Remus. "It's time."

Newt understanding nodded then stepped back across the magical boundary. From his pocket, he pulled out an old battered leather book, a pencil, and a quill. Newt settled himself on an empty barrel of mooncalf pellets and focused on Remus.

Remus stood in the center of the area Newt had created for him. He could feel the soft grass beneath his feet. Remus's shoes, cloak, and shirt waited for him just outside the barrier. Newt wanted to record his physical changes as accurately as possible. Standing there in only his worn pants Remus suddenly felt very self-conscious and vulnerable. His back and arms were a patchwork of scars both new and old. Faded white lines crossed over by angry red ones. Splotches of darkened skin marked the worst of the wounds showing scar tissue and a pooling of blood under the skin. 'Almost thirty years worth of damage.' He realized as he thought about it. Despite the awkward feeling at being the center of attention and the increasing urge to turn away and hide his deformed body Remus's anxiety over what his wolf was capable of managed to take precedent.  "If something goes wrong please-" Remus winced once more as another wave of pain crashed into him, "Do whatever it takes to stop me." He begged Newt.

Newt was a lot of things but first and foremost he was a lover of creatures. He would rather himself be injured than be responsible for a creature's suffering. The thought of having to hurt Remus distressed him but he also knew Remus needed to hear it to alleviate his fears. "I will take care of you," Newt promised, it was the best he could do without lying.

"Thank you." Remus nearly hissed the words then doubled over as his muscles contracted and began to shift.

Newt watched the transformation with keen interest trying his best to sketch the transformation as quickly as he could.

Remus's skin rippled as the bones and muscles underneath cracked, shifted, and reformed.

Remus let out a cry of pain as his teeth formed into large fangs ripping through the gums of his mouth. His jaw bone and skull stretched out to form a snout. Simultaneously Remus was bombarded with heightened senses. His vision blurred momentarily as his eyes changed. At first, the shift causes him to squint as the light around him is amplified tenfold. His nose was suddenly able to capture the myriad of scents around him and his newly reformed ears are able to pick up the sound of even the smallest creatures. All the while pain floods his entire body. His spine stretched painfully to form a tail and his legs cracked and twisted into the hindquarters of a wolf. Curled claws erupted from his now deformed fingers as his hands turned into monstrous paws. Remus lets out another cry in his agony but this one is clearly more beast than human. Usually, by now the wolf had taken over and Remus's mind was able to slip into unconsciousness avoiding the worst of the pain. With the Wolfsbane potion that was not the case. Remus realized he would endure every excruciating second of this transformation.
