For My Love

If I could hold the universe
Securely in my hand-
It wouldn't be mine to keep.
I'd gift it to my one and only,
just to see you smile-wouldn't it be grand?

What is love anyway?
Maybe it's the warmth in my belly
When you say my name?
Or the smile on my face
when my heart, you claim.

If I could write
a thousand poems
and a thousand more
They couldn't contain the love
my heart has in store.

With but a gentle word
parted with your lips
my heart soars beyond the peaks
of mountains distant-
and shines with your love appliques.

Though I speak fervently
about this kind love
There's more to be said
as it is easy to speak of.

Grant me time and compassion
My divine-
Whilst I dream of better words-
Not easily spoken.
Just love me tenderly
as our fingers entwine.
