Chapter Three

"My Aunt Ruby, she was so lovely and kind and she always put others before herself no matter what. However, someone selfishly decided it was her time to leave us. I will always remember our big family Christmas', and then the Boxing Day clean-up of the day before. She gave me my beautiful cousins, who are also my best friends, and none of us will be the same without her. I hope whoever has done this, is found and punished for the pain they have caused this family, and to the other families he has torn apart. God Bless you, Ruby Delehandre." I finish my speech, and wipe away a stray tear. I walk over to the open casket and lay my flower on her well-dressed, yet life-less body. Whoever did this is a monster, my Aunts' perfect features look dull, and her closed eyes have a slight green stain underneath them. Does she even have her eyes under those lids? Did police have to take them for evidence? Disgusting. I lean down and plant a light kiss on her cold forehead, then return to my seat. I lay my head down on my mothers shoulder, and hold Leons' hand. I sit through some of my family members goodbyes, I have no tears left, and I think it the first step to beginning the grieving process. There's so many friendly and familiar faces, it makes it much more comforting being here, but on the flip there are so many people here I don't recognise, so many people gathered to say goodbye and it makes my heart melt.

The ceremony ends and we make our way to her burial spot, next to her mother and father. My mothers burial spot is on the other side of their parents for when her time comes. Rubys' husband and children say the final words of the day, and lay her down in her grave. It is such an emotional time for everyone, it's almost tense, nobody knows what to say, do, or even how to act around each other. My whole family has never really been an over-the-top feelings family, but times like these bring us together. What if this is like one of those horror movies where the killer is watching the funeral? Insensitive thought Tilly; if they were they'd just see how many lives they ruined or tore apart.

Leon and I walk hand-in-hand into the hotel room lobby, and head for the elevator. I am relieved to see the elevator open empty. Selfishly, I was not in the mood to even share the few second ride with anyone except Leon. We enter our room and I flop down onto the lounge while Leon heads to grab us some coffee from the kitchen.
