We fell asleep in each others arms. Her breathing was soft and slow, her cheeks still shining from tears. The sun had risen and its orange glow kept us warm from the slightly chilly air. I was in love with her and I had to kill her. There was no way I could possibly do this. Her eyes slowly opened and she smiled as she saw my face.
"Morning." She said quietly. She sat up straight, ran her fingers through my hair and pressed her lips against mine. "I haven't slept that well since i got here. When I'm with you I feel safe." She pulled away and put her head on my shoulder.
You aren't safe with me, I felt like saying. Little did she know I could be a murderer, but I'm not going to let that happen. "Me too." I replied. "I have to go now though, I have to meet Four..."
She shuddered at his name "y-you-you can't! He will kill you!" She shouted. "Emily spoke to him earlier anyway, that's how I know... But the weird thing is, apparently he has been missing since... I haven't seen him? Have you?"
"No." I said quietly. Emily. She had taken Four to Jeanine just like she did with Christina. I was sure of it. "But I know where he might be."
We both got up and jumped down to dauntless compound. I was used to the free fall feeling. I'd done it quite a few times now. We checked Four's apartment, the training room, the chasm and he was no where to be seen. We stopped searching and sat down in one of the corridors.
"Jeanine took him." I said quickly looking into her eyes as they lit up with fear.
She was silent for a minute and leaned back on the wall. "What do they want from him?" She whispered her eyes tearing up.
"I don't know..." I said looking down and I really didn't. They can't of done it to get to me as Four and I hadn't really seen eye to eye...
"You go check the cafeteria, just in case. I'll stay here, my leg really hurts for some reason." She spoke clutching her leg. I could see a massive bruise half covered by her black jeans where she rolled them up holding the wound. A punch.
"Ok." I began. "I'll be quick though." I ran towards the dauntless cafeteria which was beginning to fill with people. I scanned the room hoping to see a familiar face but there was nothing. Will, the erudite transfer I think Christina was dating ran up to me.
"Hey, Peter. I know you don't particularly know me but have you seen Christina? She's been gone for two days now..." He had a worried look on his face and almost desperation. I wanted to tell the truth so bad.
"No sorry." I lied. "But I heard she went somewhere and is coming back in four months."
"Four months?!" He stammered. "Well, thanks anyway." He waved bye and ran off merging with the rest of the crowd of dauntless.
I ran back to the corridor but Tris wasn't there. Did she tell me to meet her somewhere else? I suddenly heard muffled screams coming from round the corner. Tris's screams. I ran forward and peered my head round. Tris was struggling in Emily's hold, Emily's hand was cupped over Tris's mouth.
"Shut up!" Emily growled at her injecting her arm with some greyish liquid. Tris instantly fell unconscious. "That's better." She smiled.
I slowly began to fill rage and stepped forward.
"Stop!" I shouted. Emily froze and smirked when she saw me.
"Oh look it's your knight in shining armour." She laughed talking to the knocked out Tris. "Jeanine is so gonna kill you Peter. Or should I say divergent?"
My heart suddenly beat ten times faster. "How did you-"
"Dauntless has cameras everywhere Peter! Loved the show that you two had last night by the way." She cackled.
"Just let her go ok? This isn't like you Emily. I know it. Jeanine has changed you..." I replied.
She dropped Tris to the ground and pointed a gun towards me. "Then your coming instead."
I sighed and walked towards her. She clasped my arm tightly still pointing her gun at me.
"We are going to erudite headquarters. "

We got off the train and it was about mid day now. The Erudite headquarters was huge. Jeanine stood out side and invited us in. People with books and laptops rushed around everywhere. I was forced to sit down in a circular white chair in her office.
She smiled staring at me closely. "Handsome boy aren't you. No wonder Tris has a particular liking towards you."
"What do you want." I said in a low quiet tone.
"Peter you are divergent." She began. "Usually I would kill you but I figured you could be helpful. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire."
A boy I recognised walked in holding a serum. Caleb. Tris's brother.
Jeanine carried on. "You obviously don't want to kill Tris. We have to change that."
I felt a sharp pain in my neck. Caleb had just injected me with whatever he was holding.
"What did you just do?!" I winced rubbing my neck.
Jeanine laughed looking at her watch. "In about two minutes you won't remember the Peter Hayes you are now. I will control you. I can make you do whatever I want and the best part is. It's divergent proof."
" I think we are running out." Caleb said examining the half empty bottle of pink liquid in his hand.
Jeanine frowned for a second and spoke "Had to use most of it on that Emily girl. She really put up a fight to protect you Peter."
