I got home some time after I went to Morty's with the new girl and found Mom already in the kitchen, making dinner.

"Hey sweetie. How was the first day of school? Anything exciting happen?" She said while stirring some soup in a big pot on the stove.

"It was fine. Had to hang out with a girl at Morty's after school though. She's new to town and wanted to hang out, I guess." I said.

"Oh that's great to hear. It's always nice meeting new people. What's her name? I would love to meet her some time." She said with a smile.

"Actually I never got to ask what her name was. She left after we finished eating. Plus she seemed very annoyed by me." I said.

"How did you manage not to get her name from the entire time that you were hanging out together?" She said.

"I don't know. I guess it never came up in conversation." I said.

She sighed.

"Very well then. Go start your homework and I'll tell you when dinner is ready, ok?" She said.

"Ok Mom." I said.

I go do my homework at the kitchen table until it was time for dinner. Dave was coming home from work late tonight and said that he could always eat the leftovers when he got back which we didn't mind. I knew how much Dave and my mom worked just to support and that's part of the reason why I love both of them so much.

After dinner, I go upstairs and into my bedroom where I get a text from Becky.
Text:
Hey. Is it true that you hung out with the new girl after school today? Someone saw you guys walking into Morty's earlier today.
End of text..

Great...How do I explain this to Becky?
