The hall was filled with students, each dancing with their friends or dates. Only the sound of music and whispers could be heard. One could smell the love the atmosphere comprised of.

It was their last day as students of this dear school, the day they'll see some of their mates for the last time, the day some would part way with their lovers.

"Maryam" Aleeyu called out, with nervousness laced in his tone, not taking his gaze off her, though still holding her and dancing with her on the dance floor.

"Na'am" She answered, looking straight into his eyes, seeing the nervousness like he's going to say something that will hurt them both. Whatever It is, she hopes it's khair.

Just when he's about to speak, the music was stopped and his named was called, the MC motioning him to come to the stage for his speech as he was the headboy.

"Good evening ladies and gentle men. You're all welcomed to the prom night of this year's outgoing students of El- AIS. I appreciate with extreme optimism; this ample opportunity given to me to speak in your midst" Aleeyu spoke with elegance for that he was always known for.

The crowd couldn't help but gave him a resounding clap, they new more of this is coming in his speech because he speaks with full charisma.

"I don't have much to say today, but I'll try to say the little I think will be needed. Most of us are going to part ways today, we might not have the opportunity to see each other again till the end of our lives. Some will be successful in life while some wouldn't, some of us might further our studies abroad, some in Nigeria, some wouldn't even have the opportunity to do so. All this does not matter, all that matters is we keep the spirit of EL-AIS buried within our hearts. We should never neglect the morals we've learnt in this school so as not to put a shame on our dear school. wherever we go, let's keep the good spirit moving.

The desert prays for the drop of a rain, while the swam doesn't know what to do with its flood. The catfish body is as smooth as glass, but the crocodile's hide is rougher than granite. So many do and so many don't, and that's why the world is so complex. What i'm trying to tell us is that, everyone has his own portion in life, what ever is destined to be yours shall be yours no matter who you are or where you are.

Most people believe a lie because they want it to be true or they fear it might be true. If there is anything one is going to chew in his/her mouth, without a twist in his/her face, then that thing must be ignorance. I wish each and everyone of us success in our future endeavours, thank you for listening." He ended his speech, his gaze fixed on maryam all this while. How will he tell her? How will she feel? Is u trying to do the right thing? All this questions were running through his brain.

The sound of claps and hands motioning to him for a shake jolted him out of the reverie. He shook hands with some while some were busy taking pictures with him. He excused himself from them and headed hurriedly to maryam before she is called to give her speech, because he can't stay long. He might not be able to tell her what he desires if she speaks, for her melliflous voice can make him change his mind.

"Wow, what a nice speech, I've recorded it all on my phone. I will just listen to it whenever i'm bored. Atleast I won't miss you with this on my storage" Maryam said, sticking out her tongue at him and showing him what she recorded.

Ya rabb! How will she feel when i tell her what's on my mind, she's so happy right now. Guide me through this, I wouldn't love to do this but i'm left with no other option.

"Maryam, I know you've helped me in all ways possible, you've been with me through hard times. Even when calamity befell on my family, you still stood by my side. You've never complained a bit on my attitude. You're a beautiful, kind hearted, lovely, fun to be with, and religious lady. You're the girl of every man's dream. It was a great pleasure having you by my side all this while. I will forever be indebted to you" by this time, tears were already cascading down his cheeks. Tears of pain and anguish. If only he could tell her what prompted him to this, she would've understood him better.

"Why are you saying all this things, Ya ilahi! Don't tell me you're sick, or are you studying abroad, did you gain a scholarship?. If you're sick, then surely know; Allah didn't send down a disease untill he sent down the cure first, everything will be alright by his grace. And if it's about studying abroad, I can tell my dad about it, he will send me to whichever country you're going to. Wipe away your tears." Maryam said, trying so hard to sniff back the tears that were at the verge of falling.

He just felt like hugging her after those words erupted from her mouth. This girl is so innocent. How will she fathom what I'm about to tell her, if only she could understand my plight. He thought.

"Speak up dee, you're making me scared already" Maryam said. Just then, they heard the MC called out her name, because she was to give her speech next as the headgirl.

"We have to break up" He finally spoke just when she turned around to leave for the stage, just like a knife pierced to her heart, it stopped beating at that instant. She passed out.....
