"Mum I have to find a job", I continue to pace around our small kitchen. "We can't just keep living like this. How are we even going to pay the bills now?", I panicked.

I only have my mum. My dad left us for another woman when I was 7.

"Look, we are going to find a way to get money. I will", She said looking down. Her voice held hope but her eyes showed emptiness.

"No mum, you are not going to do that", My eyes widened when I realized what she meant. I took the hint from the tone of her voice and her eye movement.

I grabbed my mother's hands in mine and looked straight into her bright hazel eyes. "I promise you, I will find a way to earn us some money", I smiled in hope.

My Mum is the best thing that ever happened to me. She works double shifts just to pay for our tiny apartment and a little bit of food. But it's not enough due to the bills.

I woke up by the rays of sunlight blinding me. Yawning, I got up from my small mattress and entered the bathroom to do my business.

I walked to the kitchen and gave my mother a kiss on the cheek. "Good morning darling", She said in a loving tone. "Good morning mum", I replied.

She passed me a newspaper, "I think that this is the job for you". I read what was written on the newspaper out loud, "Maid job offering, $200 a week"

Wow. I thought to my self. "Where is this place?", I asked curiously. That is a lot more than what my mum used to earn. I'm probably going to a rich house.

"It's in New York", She looked down. I bit my lip, "Mum I can't be this far away from you"

"It's okay we have to make money or else we will be living in the streets", She has a point. We are all the way in Chicago but it's worth it.

"I already contacted them so you'll be leaving tomorrow morning honey". Her eyes started to tear up.

"Where will you stay?" I asked her, my voice breaking. "

"I will work double shifts in the supermarket and petrol station so don't worry about me. Once you get a decent amount of money our lives will be better". She cupped my face with her soft hands.

I closed my eyes and whispered," I hope so".
