Prologue

Her bare skin was as cold as the night, dark red coated the beauty of her once lively pale flesh, that once brought warmth into my life.

I could remember her smiling eyes that resembled my own, as she tucked me into bed every night, pepering loving kisses to my face for goodnights.

Now all I can see is the emptiness of her pain, in those lifeless eyes that stared up at the sky that resembled her own color.

My small childlike heart ached as the tears slid down my chubby cheeks, holding onto her naked body, I wanted to keep her warm. She was too cold, she could get sick.

They came into the night as we all slept, their bloodthirsty howls could be heard into the night, striking fear into all of us.

Momma had woken me up quickly shaking me from my dreams, "Up, baby! We must leave now!" Rubbing my tired eyes, she put on my jacket, and ran into the waves of fighting wolves with daddy alongside her.

Daddy was ahead of us in his honey colored wolf, tearing through the herds of beasts that came to attack us. Mommy shoved my head further into her shoulder, telling me everything was going to be okay.

The strong urge to cry and ask a million questions had stunted me so, knowing that if I didn't cry it would better because mommy and daddy said that strong girls don't cry, I wanted to be strong.

I couldn't see anything, but smell the sweetness of mommy's perfume and death the plagued the skies and the once summer air. But I could hear everything.

The growls, the screams of mercy, the ripping through flesh and bone. However, I heard the most heartbreaking thing that my ten year old ears could listen to.

"Manny, no! There's too many of them, they are everywhere!" I could smell the fear that radiated off my mommy, the pounding of her heart vibrating against my own, but I could feel more of the pounding of her feet that dug us further in the forest.

Clenching myself further in her body, holding onto her tighter than before as we passed through the forest. The trees blurred in my vision as I looked up for a moment, but only pausing to see that daddy was no longer there.

"Mommy, where's daddy?" I asked in a hurry, I needed my daddy here too.

She said nothing as we got to big oak tree that's leaves covered most of it, she paused for only a moment before yanking me out of her reach and laying me gently on a branch. "Mommy?"

"Mommy is going to help daddy right now, okay? Stay here and be a good girl, can you do that for me, please baby? You just need to stay quiet, we'll be right back." She said quickly hold my face within the palms her hand that shook in fear.

She has tears in her eyes, she was always the strongest of us, why was she crying?

"Mommy, why are you crying?" I ask gently, I myself could feel the stinging my eyes from the pain of her image. The last I would see her alive and well.

"Its okay to cry, baby. The strongest do it in their strongest moments of life, I love you baby." She whimpered as the tears slid down her cheeks.

"I love you too, mommy." I whispered puckering my lips for a kiss like always, that she takes and looks at me with love in her eyes.

Her eyes were a reflection of the navy blue that was almost pitch black, that sparkled like the stars did, when it was the most clearest skies. Daddy always said that the first thing he fell in love with when he first laid eyes on her, was her big blue eyes
