I wake up and check the time, it's 7:50! School starts in ten minutes! I rush through my moring routine, get dressed, brush my hair, brush my teeth, and wash my face. I grab a piece of toast, and my messenger bag. I run out the door.
My school is pretty close to my house , so I always walk, but today I run. I barely make it to first period before Mrs. Smith calls my name, "Present!" I gasp.
"Ms. Jensen, please be here at a reasonable time tomorrow." Ms. Smith says angirly.
I just nod and take a seat next to Mia. She gives me a questioning look and I ignore her and get my science text book out.
"Class, please turn to page 110." The rest of the class just goes by in a whirl and before I know it, Mia is pestering me.
"Why were you almost late?" She asks while poking me.
"I overslept, and dad had to leave early, and Laine left for work." I answer.
"That competition for the scholarship is really effecting you, Carly. You need to take care of yourself." Mia sighs,"Well, I'll see you at lunch. Bye!"
"Bye." My schedule went by, science, high reading, gym, art, history, and then finally, lunch came. I found Mia at our usual spot and sat next to her and Sandra.
"Uggggg..... my mom packed eggs again." Sandra complains.
"Eww." Mia says.
"Well, just throw them away." I say.
"I am."
When the whole "egg fiasco" is over I bite into my ham and mustard sandwhich. As I finish my chips Mia grabs my arm and pulls me outside with her.
"Wait! I need to put my lunch box away!" I yell.
"Too bad."
"You are so mean, why are you my best friend?" I ask her.
" 'Cause I'm amazing," Mia says smuggly.
"Whatever."
"Hey, aren't you glad that there's only 13 more days of school left?" Mia asks after a minute.
"Heck yeah! I can focus on music." I say.
"But I don't want you to go to that Shinging whats-it fancy, smancy shcool." Mia groans.
"Fancy smancy? Really Mia?"
"I needed flavor, and you know me I don't swear. Kids are going in already, C'mon, Carly!"Mia yells.
I run in with Mia, but we had to split up because our lockers are in different wings. For the rest of the day I listened teachers drone on about language arts and math. The only quiet time I got was in study hall my nineth period. Once that bell rang I was out of there.
I dashed out of the school, down the street, and up my driveway.
"Hi, Carly!"my older sister says from the island.
"Hello, Laine.
"If your homework is done I'm taking you to your dance lesson." Laine says.
"Ok. I'll go get dressed." I walk into my room set my stuff down, and put on a pair of yoga capri pants and my music is everything shirt. I train in the style of jazz so I dress comfortably and I never have to wear a leotard. Thank God!
"I ready!"
"Ok. Let's go, Carly!"
The ride to the studio is quiet except for the questions about Ella. When the car stops I say," Bye Laine."
"Bye Carly. Pick you up at 6?"
"Yeah."
I walk into the studio and turn down the stairs hoping for a good lesson.
