A sailor's tale

A New Day

The next morning Luke was awaken by a friendly face. "Well, goodmorning sleepy head." It was Johnathan who had woken up before Luke. "Well, look who's not screaming anymore." He stared at John and noticed he was wearing some sort of nice looking clothes, that looked quite expensive. "Hey, John. What's with the clothes?" John looked at what he was wearing and smiled, "Oh, these? They were a gift from Evan. And look." John pointed at the neatly folded clothes on a chair, "Those are for you! From Ryan."
Luke then got up and got dressed, as he finished up there was a knock at the door. "Hello, goodmorning princes! Prince Evan and Ryan would like to see you at the royal garden." Luke then opened the door with John behind him, "We will be there soon."
When they were both cleaned up they headed towards the royal garden where they saw Evan and Ryan just gazing into what looked to be a seaweed bed. Evan was speaking to Ryan when he heard Johnathan's voice, "Goodmorning Evan!" When Evan heard John his heart dropped for Evan likes John but he didn't want him to find out, so he collected himself and gave a gentle smile. "Why, Good morning Johnathan. Luke." Luke nodded at Evan and then gazed upon Ryan; he noticed that Ryan had a symbol on his chest, "Hey Ryan." Ryan looked at Luke with a smile on his face and rosy cheeks, "Hello Luke. How are the clothes?" Luke was still gazing at Ryan's chest, "That symbol? What does it mean?"
Ryan looked at his mark, "Oh, that? Well it's the symbol of my house. I'm an OhmWrecker, it was passed down through generations of my family." Luke was a bit fascinated, "Wow, so you were born into royalty?" "Yes, my father is king here; he married to become king of this land. Which is why Evan has a different symbol, his is an owl. His house was called Vanoss, so our two families became one." Luke was also wondering why Evan had a different symbol and now he knows why.
"Luke! Evan said he could take us and explore the ocean! Doesn't that sound cool!" Johnathan said as he swam towards Luke with Evan behind him, "Yeah, that sure does."
They began to swim towards the the palace when suddenly the a Royal Guard showed and stood in front of Evan. "My Prince! Your father has requested you meet him in the battle room. We would like to discuss some battle tactics with you." Evan sighed and turned towards his brother then back at the Guard, "Did my Father say it was urgent?" "No your highness." Evan smiled, "Then tell my Father that I will speak with him later." The Guard then ran off and the Prince's continued on there way to the palace gates.
It was time for Luke and Johnathan to play the part of being the Prince's mates. Luke grabbed hold of Ryan's hand and got close to him, Evan took John by his left shoulder and held him close to his chest. When they walked out of the palace gates; there were two sirens waiting outside, one was Bryce and the other was a new face. "Ryan! Are you ready to show your guest around the reef?" Bryce said excitedly, "We sure are. Luke here is fascinated with our way of living. Aren't you Luke?" Luke was not paying attention and slowly answered, "Yes, you all have beautiful homes." Bryce smiles and swam to his friend, "This is my good friend Tyler. He knows his way around better then anyone." Tyler looked at the Princes and smiled, "Good day! I'll be your guide and show you what there is to do here in our beautiful reef!" They begin to follow Tyler and he showed the shops, markets, restaurants and places to hang out. They then got to the gates of the city, "Alright Tyler, I'll take it from here." Evan said as he grabbed Tyler's shoulder. "As you wish your Highness." Evan then grabbed Johnathan's hand and took him outside, Luke followed alongside Ryan.
Evan took them to a place with beautiful coral trees. Luke was amazed that he's never seen these and hugged Ryan for letting him experience this. Evan took Johnathan up to one of his favorite, "You know why I brought you here?" John looked at Evan, "Because you needed a place to think, so you could send me and my friend home." Evan looked a bit sad, "What's the matter?" Evan grabbed Johnathan's hand hesitantly and looked him in the eye.
"Johnathan, when I first saw up in the surface. I knew there was something special about you. Some feeling I could shake off. My heart drops every time I see you and it hurts me because I know I must let you leave, but I can't because I..." Johnathan grabbed Evan's other hand, "Because you what Evan?" Evan just got closer to John's face, "Because I...I love you.."
Evan then pulled Johnathan closer until their noses met, John looked down to Evans lips and kissed them. They were in heaven, they felt the warmth of their love that something happened. John was lifted up and glowing lights began to twirl all around him with beautiful blue, purple and red colors. Evan had a huge smile on his face, "It's happening...it's really happening." When Johnathan can back down he looked at Evan with confusion, "What just happened?"
Evan hugged John, "you are now a full blown siren!" John was still confused, "What do you mean? I'm now a siren forever?" Evan nodded. John looked at Evan, "What am I going to do?" Evan looked at him confused, "What do you mean? You could stay with me now. We could be happy here." "No, Evan. I still have a life up on the surface. I can't stay a siren." "But I thought you loved me?" Johnathan had tears in his eyes, "I do! It's just that...I have my family and friends who will miss me! I can't just leave them. I can't tell my mother, hey I'm going to marry a siren from the ocean!"
Evan grabbed his hair, "I'm so sorry John. I didn't mean for this to happen." Evan swam away and left John by himself. John still had tears in his eyes when Luke and Ryan found him, "John! What's the matter!" John took a deep breath, "It's nothing Luke, really. Let's just head home." Ryan was looking for Evan, "Where's Evan?" "He left early, had to speak with his father."
Luke grew a bit suspicious, that he got a bit angry. They then began to swim home and Luke had a couple of words for Evan.
"What's wrong with Johnathan?"
