A/N:

Hey everyone!

This chapter is an entry that I wrote for Wattpad Chicklit's weekly flash fiction prompts. This is one of the first ever micro-fictions that I've written and I'm really proud to have won the contest. Yes, I won it!

This was originally a picture prompt but since I couldn't manage to get the picture, I'm posting only the entry.

Thank you so much for giving this book a read!

I stood staring transfixed at the breath-taking view of the town below, awed by its beauty and elegance. The soft wind blew my hair across my face as the buried memories came surfacing up my mind.

It reminded me of the way he made me laugh when I told him I was scared of heights, and the way he held my hand and made me believe he would be there with me for the rest of our lives. It sounded even more real standing there.

"Ciara, it's done. Come and have a look", called my brother from a little afar. I could tell he was feeling guilty for bringing me here with him.

I made very little effort to walk as the wind almost blew me towards it. For a minute I was transported back in time to the day when we walked right there, holding hands. To a day when I found the love of my life.

I almost gasped at how beautiful the place looked, adorned with lights and candles, with the creepers hugging the perfect looking table set up for a candlelight dinner. It reminded me so much of him, and the day we spent there together, that I couldn't keep it any longer.

I let the tears flow.

"I'm sorry, Ciara. I just wanted everything to be perfect before I proposed Lily and that's why I called you here. I didn't know this was where John asked you out", my brother said, looking guiltily at me.

Hearing his name made me realise that it wasn't just a fantasy. He really wasn't there anymore.

I just shook my head, wiping the now cold tears away. It didn't matter now. He left me.

He left this world and took a part of my soul with him. And I can never be myself again.
