The tingling sensation of something hot hitting his face abruptly woke Tony up, causing him to fall off the couch where he had been sleeping.
"Morning to you too, sleeping beauty," Pepper chuckled, feeling pleased that her teasing had a greater effect than she expected.
Groaning dramatically while lying flat on the floor, Tony sighed, "This is what I get for loving you?"
"Do you regret it yet?" she playfully asked as she offered him a mug of coffee, which he accepted as he sat up.
"Eh," he shrugged. "Not yet." He straightened his back, feeling a crack and sighing in relief, which made Pepper snort with laughter. "Did you talk to her last night?"
"Yeah," Pepper replied with a smile.
Tony gave her a flat look. "That bad, huh?"
She slumped over the couch in defeat. "I tried to coax her, but she didn't open the door. She didn't even answer me at all."
"Why didn't you just ask F.R.I.D.A.Y to open it?"
"I can't just barge into her room, Tony. That's her privacy. It would only make her feel more insecure."
"Well, she'll come out when she's hungry, right? There's no need to stress yourself out," Tony stated as he took a sip of his drink.
"What if she doesn't?" Pepper argued.
"If she's a real Stark, then we all get along well with food."
"Hm," she hummed in understanding, then patted his knees. "Fine then, tell her that if she finally comes out, she can just heat her breakfast if it gets cold. It's in the container on top of the counter."
"Why don't you tell her?" Tony asked with a frown, watching as Pepper put down her empty mug and got ready to leave.
"You left the company to me, and I needed to be there."
He gave her a bewildered look. "Seriously? Working? Now?"
"Someone has to do it, right? After all, I'm leaving you with Eve for a father-daughter bonding session."
It took Tony a few moments to fully comprehend the situation he was about to face, and his eyes widened as the realization hit him. He quickly chased after her, but by then, Pepper had already gotten into her car and driven away.
Leaning against the doorframe, he sighed, knowing he had to spend time with the short-tempered girl.
Eve, who had just come downstairs, saw Tony leaning against the doorframe but shrugged it off and continued her way to the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator, she spotted a container full of blueberries and took it.
