Simon smiled at Colby, panning the camera to Jack, who was still inattentively messing around on his GameBoy. "Jack, do you want to say anything before we leave on our spooky adventure?" He asked, walking toward the couch as Jack stood up and turned off his device.
"Hell yeah I do!" He seemed excited for once, unlike how he usually acted. Simon jumped back, a little surprised at Jack's sudden mood change. Colby just smiled and made an expression of slight concern and joy. "We'll be the very best explorers!"
"Like no one ever was?" Colby chimed in. Jack let out a laugh, followed by Simon.
"That was genius!" Said Simon, still laughing like there was no tomorrow. "I reckon we should probably leave soon, though. We've spent enough time standing here and making jokes." Colby looked at both Simon and Jack, and Simon set down his camera after he had done half of a transition.
About 20 minutes after leaving the house, they stumbled upon the "haunted" building. Jack shined his flashlight in through the doorway, which creaked open as he slowly walked in. He pointed it to the floor carefully. "Hope nothings trip wired. That would suck." Jack chuckled as he started to walk around the area, Simon and Colby following suit.
Simon then turned on his camera as he walked in. "There's not much, but it's still nice to explore abandoned buildings."
Colby chimed into the conversation, "This is just the storage unit that the original house owners used. If you walk for a little longer you can find the house itself. I've been told that everything's still left there in it's original state and everything. You guys want to see if that rumor is true?" It was dark, but Colby saw both of them nod yes. He nodded when he had seen that the rest of them had nodded as well in agreement. "Then let's go get us some spook for ourselves." With that, he lead them out. They were so focused on getting to the next building that they had not realized that the door had closed behind them with a small slam. Simon had heard it, but just thought nothing of it. They all continued through the woods for a couple minutes before stumbling upon the house.
"Ominous." Jack said, flashing his flashlight in the window. It was starting to get darker, so he felt the need to quickly check if anything is in there.
"Thanks, Captain obvious." Colby said, giving Jack a slight punch on the back of the head. He then looked back up to the third floor of the house. "I've never been out here, but this is spooky yet cool." Simon pulled out his camera.
"You can say that again." Both Simon and Jack chimed at the same time. Colby started to walk one direction around the house. Simon started recording, doing a little bit of a "now we're here" transition bit.
"You guys might want to look around the building for any items someone could have left. You could find either old or new items. Either way I'm sure it would be pretty cool." Jack went the opposite way that Colby did so they could get inside the house quicker. "Oh hey, over here guys!" He said, picking up an unfamiliar item.
"What'd you find?" Simon asked, kind of rushing to Colby.
"A locket?" Jack said, examining the item. "It seems old, but I've never seen one quite like this before."
"Spooky." Colby said, looking at the broken window above the mark they had been standing on. "Maybe we should head in and explore, what do you think?"
"Don't see why not." Jack said, fumbling with his flashlight.
Simon panned the camera to the two of them."Yeah, it's really spooky, but as long as I'm with you guys I guess I don't have much of a reason to be afraid." He smiles contently.
They all walk around to where the door is. "A-anyone want to go first?" He said in a nervous tone.
"We got a scaredy cat?" Colby questioned jokingly.
"N-no, I'm just nervous as to what we could find." Jack sighed, offering to go first in line.
"Oh yeah, you guys might want these." He states, holding up 3 doctor's masks.
"You're right." Colby said, grabbing one for himself and Simon, strapping his own on. Simon no later strapped his on and they creaked the door open. Jack stepped in, flashing his flashlight at the surroundings.
He flashed his light at the floor to see what he was stepping on, just in case the floor had been caved in whatsoever. "I suggest whispering from here on out, we don't know if anything or anyone is in here, and I don't think we really want to risk it either." Jack whispered. Assuming they heard him, he carried on and separated a small bit from the other two to get a better look at what was in the room.
"This is pretty cool, I guess." Colby said.
The room they were standing seemed to be like a living room of sorts. There was a saggy jean couch with a broken box TV in front of it on a table. The screen was the part that was broken. Figures for an abandoned building.
Simon perked up when he heard a noise from the upstairs. The floor had creaked a few times above. He looked up, seemingly frightened. "There can't possibly be someone else here, right?" He asked to Colby, who shrugged in response. With that, another creak broke on the floor. "Please don't be a human..." Simon thought to himself. You can't always trust your ears, sadly.//943 words//
