Max had ended up having enough of Sophie being scared of having her form being exposed, so he did it for her. He told the whole camp at lunch time.
Sophie, infuriated and betrayed, begins contorting into a worse monster. A horn grows on her head, she grows three new eyes, her fangs get larger and she grows taller.
As an act of mercy though, she spares him and decides to not eat him.
