We're back at home and Regina stops.
"Emma, honey?"
"Yes?" I turned around from the counter and looked at her.
"I want another child. With you. I-I know it's not possible in that way but, I want another child to raise with you." She was stuttering with her words. I could tell she really wanted this. She looked up at me and I reached out for her hands.
"I want this too!"  She smiles bigger than ever before.  I knew she wanted this and I too. We put together all the pieces like gender, 1 or 2 kids, baby or child or teen. We knew that since I was a sheriff and she was a mayor that we had a pretty good chance. Plus my mother was and is still a teacher. I don't know if that would help, but it could brighten up the chances. We called adoption center and made an appointment for next Tuesday.
"I can't wait!" She said.
