"You look like hell." It was nearly noon and they were nowhere close to identifying the body of Jane Doe found with her face burned off with acid. They'd found her wrapped in gift paper with a bright red bow tied to what was left of her face. Seeing the gruesome death of the teenager, Kerah had taken to the bushes to empty the contents of her stomach. To say the other detectives were shocked was an understatement. Right now multiple sets of eyes still looked at her in shock; Kerah Benn had the strongest stomach on the team. But none of them knew the secret---the little soul she carried. She heaved a sigh and looked over at the person uttered the words. Her husband.

Taylen knew something was definitely wrong with his wife. Her light brown skin and gone gray-green in a matter of seconds at seeing the dead body of the girl. And that sure as hell wasn't his wife. Something was not right and he was going to find out what. Her large chocolate eyes bore into his. Oh, how he loved her. His heart ached with it. Her eyes held pure tiredness and fatigue. In the course of the day he'd seen her hand moved to her stomach several times. Did she have a stomach bug? Maybe she wasn't feeling well. He wanted to pull her into his arms and never let go, but they had a body to identify. This Christmas didn't look promising at all. Taylen watched as his wife took a bite of the doughnut and her face paled. She grabbed her mouth and ran from the room. He sprang up and followed. His wife had some explaining to do. Then he was taking her to the hospital. He singled for his second in command to take over.

Kerah dry heaved for several moments over the toilet before her stomach settled. She felt so sick. The only thing she wanted to do was crawled into bed and stayed there. But that wasn't an option, she had work to do.

"Kerah?"

Shit. She had to tell him. She held her stomach, taking several breaths. Time to buck up. This couldn't wait. She was already fascinated with the little life. How could someone love somebody they'd never met? Taylen was her husband and they always figure things out together. She felt him kneeled beside her. "Baby, what's wrong? Let me take you to the hospital."

Kerah squeezed her eyes closed and whispered, "I'm pregnant, Taylen." She heard his sharp intake of breath and her heart clutched in her chest."

"Kerah, look at me," he said.

Tears filled her eye and she shook her head. She didn't want to see the disappointment in his eyes. They'd always used protection because she knew they weren't ready for kids. Taylen had told her that serval times. He clasped her hand in his warm one and helped her off the ground. And still, she kept her eyes shut.

"It's okay if you don't wanna look at me but I'm going to talk to you, okay."

She nodded.

Kerah you're my responsibility. We made a vow to each other. To love each other whatever the circumstances. I love you with my whole heart. It hurts me to see you like this. Did you think I would yell at you for being pregnant?" he asked.

She shook her head, her lips quivering. "W-we planned to wait and I---"

"Kerah it takes two to tango and we've been going at it like rabbits. I have to admit it was bound to happen someday." He chuckled.

She gasped and her eyes flew open. She shoved at his shoulder. "Taylen! We do not."

"Yes, we do. You're always wanting to ravish me everywhere and anywhere. Do you remember that time we did it on the---"

"Oh-my-god, Taylen." She groaned then giggled. Kerah flushed the toilet and limped to the sink to wash out her mouth.

"Now there's that smile I've been waiting for." He moved closer and nudged her chin. "Why didn't you tell me as soon as you found out?"

"I only found out this morning." She glanced up into his face. Those golden eyes shined with so much love, her legs weakened. Her face crumpled and tears poured from her eyes. How could she ever thought he would be disappointedHis face softened and he hugged her to him. She buried her face into his chest and sobbed. "I-I am sorry, Taylen."

Taylen held her close and kissed her forehead. "I love you Kerah Nayanne Benn. And I will tell you again. "You and the little one you're carrying are mine to care for, to cherish, to protect and to love. You couldn't have given me a better Christmas present." He hugged closer and smiled when he heard her whisper. 'I love you too, Taylen Nicolai Benn.'

"Now let's go catch that bloody murderer."
