Winding Roads

I didn't know where I was going. I was just driving.

I drove far enough into the country that I only saw houses every other mile or so. I still kept driving.

I was going 87 mph in a 55 mph zone.

I came around this bend and nearly ran over this girl.

I stomped on the breaks and got out of the car.

This girl was sitting on the side of the road, knees to her chest, face down, and was crying.

I looked around and slowly started walking up to her.

"Hello? What's your name? What's wrong? Why are you out here by yourself?"

She looked up, and it was clear that she had been crying.

"My, that's a lot of questions. But, hello, I'm Allas (Alice). And you are?"

I coughed and extended my hand, "Right, uh, I'm Alek. Care to inform me on why you're out here in the middle of nowhere, crying?"

She looked at me, her expression first hard, then softened as she talked. "Uh yeah, I'm here because my father dropped me off.. Or well. Basically kicked me out of the car telling me to walk home."

I looked at her with sorrowful eyes. A piece if sh*t dad she has too.

My hand was still extended and she finally grabbed it. I pulled her up and asked if she wanted a ride home.

She was reluctant and said, "If you try anything, I know karate. I'm a black belt. And I have pepper spray." I smiled, "No need, I mean no harm." She nodded and got in. I turned the car around heading back for the city.

So where do you live?

3316 Mason Dr.

I looked at her and my mouth dropped.
