"Adelia, Maddox, Marshall, Elizabeth, and Dakota, you will be seated in the first row closest to my desk," Mrs. Steele read the first names off her class roster, gesturing towards the desks.
'Great, not only do I have to sit in front of the teacher, but I have the most annoying person sitting behind me, and my best friend is in the back of the row, behind the two seniors,' Juliet Parker thought, rolling her eyes.
She gathered her belongings while Mrs. Steele continued calling out the seating chart, and went to her seat in front of Maddox. It was her first day of high school. Juliet, Maddox, and her best friend, Dakota, were the only freshmen in this class, Animal Sciences. Freshmen always were stuck in the empty openings in the electives, so they didn't have a choice when it came to that. It was an easy elective, though, that she knew she'd make straight 100's in, so she wasn't stressed about that.
What she was stressed about was having to sit in front of Maddox Wilson every morning for an hour during first period. It wasn't that he was a bad guy. Okay. Maybe it was. Juliet and Maddox had grown up together. Their families were good friends, and they all went to the same church. If it had been any other guy, she probably would've been best friends with him, and maybe even developed a crush on him.
Maddox wasn't a bad looking guy, in fact, even though Juliet hated to admit it, he was kind of cute. He was her opposite pretty much. He was a 5'11" to her measly 5'2". He had short, curly dirty blonde hair with blue eyes, while she had long, wavy dark red hair and green eyes.
Had Maddox been any other guy, Juliet would've been head over heels for him. But he was Maddox. The boy who skipped Sunday school to make out with some random girl. he hung around the wrong crowd at school. He smoked and sold weed. He fought anyone who gave him a cross look. But Juliet couldn't blame his actions entirely on him. He had a rough childhood. His father abused him and was the one that got him started on weed in the first place. But he was still Maddox. Even though they knew each other pretty well, they acted like complete strangers at school, being they didn't run in the same social groups. Juliet hung out with mostly Dakota and a few of her friends, but that was it. She was a shy girl.
"So, I get to stare at the back of your head for an hour every morning, Miss Adelia Juliet Parker. This should be an interesting freshman year," Maddox said with a smirk as he passed by Juliet on the way to his seat. "Let me see your schedule to see if we have any other classes together."
Juliet hoped they didn't, but they were freshmen and there were not a lot of other options. She handed him the sheet of paper with her schedule on it.
"You're not going to believe this," Maddox laughed. "According to this lovely sheet of paper, we have every single class together. Looks like we're going to get to know each other real well."

I'm so glad to finally post this, even though it's kinda short. Honesty, I forgot about this until I looked at my profile. But I have motivation now! I'm also taking a week or so break from college due to some personal issues, so I may update again within the week. Hope you enjoy! I'm not going to be one of those to ask you to comment, like, and vote. Excuse any errors, as I am typing this on my phone. I will edit soon enough.
