GEMMA
I slowly begin to open my eyes as I start waking up. My entire body hurts and aches, almost like I've been hit by a truck and then hit again soon after.
I tried to sit up in bed but was not able to at all as I felt my head throbbing in pain and warning me not to sit up or else I will feel even worse in the head.
So I lay there and try rubbing my eyes to wake myself up some more when I hear the door open up.
I roll onto my back and see that it's Rhydon walking in, closing the door behind him as he's carrying a tray of food and drinks.
"You're awake." He smiles.
Which was a little bit weird because I have never seen him smile as much as he is right now.
"Yeah." I clear my throat as I squint from the pain that the sunlight seeping through the window was causing.
"How are you feeling?" He asks me as he walks over to the side of the bed and places the tray down on the nightstand.
"I'm okay. Just sore a little bit."
"That's good." He smiles at me while looking at me with admiration?
"I guess so." I shrug my shoulders.
"I mean, it's not good you're feeling any sort of pain but at least it's not unbearable." He says while I just nod in agreement.
We share an awkward moment of silence before he grabs a couple of pills and then hands them to me.
"What are these?" I ask him.
"These are pills that I can't pronounce the name to but that I was given by a witch doctor. She said that within minutes, they'll make you feel better." He chuckles.
I knew what he was talking about, so I took them and swallowed them down with a glass of water before placing my head back down onto the pillow and waited for them to kick in.
"So, what happened?" I begin to ask.
"You don't remember anything?" He asks.
"Not really. Just that Altaire and I went into the woods to talk and then the next thing I remember, I was getting attacked. Then I saw you before everything went black."
"That's it?" He asks looking disappointed a little bit.
"Yeah. Why, what happened?" I asked.
"Well, now don't get mad." He began to say hesitantly. "But you were hit with a red skull type of light ball thing and the pack doctor, along with Kora and others, agreed that to help save you, I needed to...." He stops himself for a moment.
"You needed to what?" I asked worried.
"I needed to mark you." He says with the last part under his breath and really fast. Maybe thought I didn't hear him but I did.
"What?!" I sat up abruptly feeling both shocked and yet pissed off a little at the same time.
"They said it would save you." He says.
"Oh my god! You are NOT allowed to mark me without my consent! What the hell were you thinking?!" I snap at him.
"But they said it would help keep you from losing all your abilities and you possibly becoming human. I thought I was saving you?!" He begins to get upset as he stands up.
"Well thanks so much for actually doing something worse." I snap at him as I get up and run into the bathroom, not caring if those pills kicked in but it looks like they did.
When I make it to the bathroom mirror, I immediately start to look at the mark he put on the side of my neck.
"What's the problem? I mean, would it really be so terrible that you could be my mate?" He asks.
"Are you kidding me?" I look at him more pissed off after seeing the mark.
I can see his jaw clench as he stares at me and starts clenching his hands into fists looking like he might hit me but instead, throws his fist into the wall.
"You know what? Fuck you! I should have just let you die! I don't know why I even listened to all of them and you know what else? I should have done THIS a long time ago.....I Rhydon Yelverton, reject you Gemma Roderick to be my mate." He then storms out of the room, slamming the door hard behind him causing the walls and everything to shake from the impact of the strength he used.
I stood there still thinking about what he just said to me before he left. Did he really just say that I was his mate and did he just reject me as his mate?
What the hell is going on? Also, why would he be so upset about the red skull? Didn't the doctor tell him that these two pills were enough to help heal me? That's when I quickly yelled out for Kora. She has A LOT of explaining to do.
