Twinsies!

Recon tapped his foot rapidly as he nervously waited for Kirito to arrive. He had invited the Spriggan to a small, empty bar in Sylvain on short notice late at night. "Are you going to order something? I wanna close up," the bartender asked Recon. "Oh. Uh... No, I guess not-" "Great. If you don't mind, I'm going to have to ask you to leave," the guy said. Recon walked out and waited outside the building as the bartender locked the door. Recon sighed. He should've known Kirito wouldn't be able to make it.

"Sorry I'm late!" Recon heard the familiar voice call out. He looked up and watched Kirito land in front of him. "Asuna and I lost track of time. We were on a date and- Are you okay?" Kirito explained. "Huh? Oh. Yeah, I'm okay. I just wanted to talk to you about something." "Go ahead," Kirito smiled and made himself comfortable against the wall of the bar. "Well, you know how I have a crush on Sugu?" Kirito nodded. Recon made his feelings towards his little sister very apparent. "I don't think she likes me back. I need some advice. How can I make her like me?" Recon asked desperately. "Hm... Well, you can't make her like you-" "There has to be something!" the boy cried out. "Calm down, Recon! There's only one thing I can think of..." Kirito began. "Please tell me! I'll do anything! I-I mean- if it'll give me a chance with Sugu, I'll try anything." "Just be... cool," was all Kirito said. "Be cool? How do I do that?" "Be more relaxed, more laid-back. Stop yelling and freaking out all the time. Maybe you could get new clothes if you really want to," Kirito suggested. "Be more relaxed... More laid-back... Like you?" Recon asked. Kirito laughed. "Well, it worked for me. I should go now. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye, Recon." "Bye, Kirito. And thanks for the advice," Recon said. "Anytime," Kirito waved and logged out. That night, Recon stayed up much later than usual to prepare for the next day.

The next day at school, Recon tried extra hard to be cool and confident like Kirito had told him. He was wearing contacts for the first time instead of his usual glasses, and he unbuttoned the top button of his uniform shirt. In his opinion, he was doing pretty well.

Sugu walked home from school and went into Kirito's room to say hi. "Hi, Big Brother. How was school?" she greeted. "It was okay. How about you? How was your day?" "Fine. Shinichi was acting weird today, though," she told him. "Recon? How?" Kirito asked. "I can't explain it. You'll see when we meet up in ALO later." "Okay."

"Leafa, Kirito, Asuna... Silica's on her way. Where's Recon?" Lisbeth asked as the group waited for him to arrive. "He's not usually late. Do you think he forgot?" Asuna asked. "No. He'll be here," Sugu told them. Sure enough, Recon joined them a few minutes later. He was dressed in all black, with a jacket that reached his ankles. "R-Recon?! What happened to you?!" Sugu exclaimed. "Hey, you and Kirito match!" Asuna laughed. "Yeah, they do! they even have the same jacket," Liz noticed. Sugu whispered in Kirito's ear, "See! He's acting strange!" "Hm..." Kirito thought to himself. "Can I talk to you for a minute, Recon?" Kirito asked. Recon nodded and the distanced themselves from the group. "Do you like my new outfit? It's cool, right?" Recon asked the older boy. "Yeah, I guess. But when I gave you that advice, I said to act cool, not act like me. And I definitely didn't say to dress like me," Kirito told him. "But you said to be cool!" Kirito sighed. "You can be cool while still being yourself. Sugu noticed you were acting different today. And from the way she told me, I think she likes the old Recon better," he said with a wink. Recon smiled and nodded. "Does this mean I have to change?" Recon asked. "Not now. Not if you don't want to," Kirito said. The two went back to the girls and Sugu frowned at Recon. "You look stupid. Change back to your regular clothes and stop trying to be Kirito," she said. Kirito looked at Recon and watched his reaction. He actually seemed sad. Sugu's harsh words must've meant a lot more to him...

Kirito swung his arm around Recon's shoulders and smiled. "I think he looks good! We're matching!" Recon smiled at that and began to play along. "Yeah! We're twins!" The girls weren't too impressed. Suddenly, Silica showed up. She looked back and forth between the girls and the boys before asking, "Were we all supposed to dress like Kirito today?" The friends laughed together and made more jokes before beginning their quest for the day.
