So, I haven't been writing any poems for two years already and this is my first piece after a while. I wrote this for an event at my university with the theme 'empowerment'. Enjoy :)

They say, stars glow the brightest in the darkness,

They say, the sun come out every day without tardiness,

But none would say, a flower is always red in bleariness.

Sat a youthful woman on a bench feeling blue,

Elegant, extraordinary and exquisite too,

But her inner turmoil is not explicit

For her woes lie in the depth of her soul,

Where she always hid

Look in the mirror, lass,

Hold your gaze that glitter like glass,

Let him fall out of love,

For your brilliance is not what he deserve

Your blinding light outshines his incompetence,

Never refrain as a bulb would flickered then weakens

People, people being people,

Voices, merely voices, unless you grapple.

May what come, or come what may,

Is unimportant as a beautiful soul is your goal today.
