Roy gazed at the Earth with wonder. He never got used to the sight of his planet, greens, blues, and yellows mixing in with wispy clouds. He stood on the moon many times because he liked the solitude. Roy had never gotten used to being in his own time because he had done so much in his future. He looked fondly again at the slowly rotating orb and remembered Courtney, the girl he had left behind. He stared out into space and looked for the thing he had been warned of. He looked down at his footprints and the note he wrote with his finger for any astronauts that might have stumbled upon it. Are you alone? He chuckled. Suddenly, he looked up and saw a light growing larger and larger, coming toward his planet. He jumped and flew out to meet the object. Suddenly, a ship appeared in a blink of light. Roy started and flew up to the window and tapped on it. The creatures inside the cockpit stared at him, wide eyed, and turned to each other and began chittering.
The creatures were black and purple, with scaly, amphibian-like skin, and wide, slanted, green eyes. Roy didn't realize the particular species, but he decided to make an attempt at conversation. He pulled up the intergalactic translator on his time gauntlet and aimed it toward the creatures. The gauntlet scanned them and came to a result.
"Oh good. Klorgans.", thought Roy.
Roy paused time and flew to the side of the ship, tore a hole in the hull, and stepped inside. He turned around and pushed the hole together, effectively sealing the ship again. He turned around, satisfied, and scanned the area he was in. Klorgans were everywhere, moving boxes around, and preparing for war. Roy sighed. He flew across the loading dock, through a hallway, and up to the cockpit. He unfroze time, and knocked on the large metal door. There was silence while he configured his translator. The doors slid open and suddenly, several large, alien, guns were pointed at his chest. Roy cleared his throat, put his hands up, and smiled.
Roy said, in a language that wasn't his own, "Hi there! Welcome to my space sector! May I ask what your business is here?"
The biggest creature spoke in a wet, raspy voice, "We're here to conquer and destroy, as we have done to many planets before yours."
"Well, friend, I can't allow you to do any of that. We have an overall democracy here, and you guys can't just come in and "Conquer" and whatnot."
Roy smiled and touched the watch. Time rippled and slowed dramatically. He stepped forward and pushed the guns out of the creatures' claws, which floated away slowly. The expressions drifted onto their faces as Roy moved through their ranks, slowly dodging phaser blasts and sparks. He made his way back to his original position, facing the creatures, and sped time up again, and watched as the guns clattered to the floor, and the Zargonians' expressions turned from anger to shock.
"Now, like I said, you can't touch Earth without going through me, so I'll give you another chance. Go back to where you're from, and if you conquer any other planets, I'll know."
Roy walked away and through the hordes of Klorgans to the back of the ship, where he turned around, smiled, and engaged one of the escape pods.
Roy kicked open the door of the pod when he was back in the vacuum of space and watched the large ship turn around and head back the way it came. A job well done. Roy faced the Earth again, and flew back. He descended through the atmosphere and back to his apartment in Nashville, Tennessee. Roy hovered over the fire escape and opened his window. He stepped inside and took off his mask, gloves, gauntlets, and armor, and sighed. Time for a well deserved nap.
As soon as Roy woke up, he heard the phone ring. He picked it up, still groggy.
"Hello?"
"Hello Roy. It's William. Can you come over? It's important."
