The night sky was beautiful and clear, the vast open sand flew past my face like bullets from the hard gusts of wind pummeling my body as I attempted to traverse through the storm.
Anyone that lived in the desert for a extended time would know that sandstorms are far worse than any storm at sea, and going through one on foot was basically suicide.
The desert seemed endless and inescapable. I could only walk, praying I would come across a building or an oasis - but no avail.
I pulled down my face mask, my mouth nearly gaping from the impossible miracle that showed itself miles beyond the desert.
Light that shined through the darkness - and a voice accompanying it. It was the world, speaking out with it's strong commanding tone. "Come to me, my child. Release yourself to the Creator and I, for we are your salvation."
Any other person would trample towards that light, beckoning us with strong temptations and promises of destinies and salvations. However, I have a different goal I have to reach - one that only I can complete, no God.
A second, softer voice spoke out - it was the will of man. It said, "Do not listen to the world's will. It only tempts and will swallow you whole with unfulfilled promises; For that is the true nature of Mother Earth."
Once again, I ignored the voices of the deities, knowing that neither one would bring me closer to my goal. I traveled too much and too far to give in to prophesies and fates.
I wasn't destined to follow my 'destiny', I was destined to break the rules of destiny.
In that moment, man and earth didn't exist, just the two of us existed - holding hands at the end of the universe.
Not just across space, but across time too.
"One day, you will meet the one you're destined to be with." A familiar voice spoke through my memories.
I don't believe in destiny.
