So, I've been thinking about how Kai's afraid of water. Do you think there's a reason? I came up with one, but it's kind of messed up.
So, when Kai was around 6 or 7, he liked to play around a pond near his house. You know, chasing frogs or whatever little boys do. He was playing down there when some older boys walked past. One of them thought it would be funny to push him into the pond. So, this kid runs up to Kai, and pushed him from behind into the pond. Now, the pond was only about 3 feet deep, at most. But the mud on the bottom was thick like quicksand. Remember that when Kai fell in, he was pretty small, so the water was almost up to his neck. And the mud held his feet down. He was screaming and crying for help, but the older boys just laughed and walked away. He was stuck there for three hours before somebody cared enough to pull him out. He was traumatized. Now, whenever he's too close to water, he thinks of that experience.
