What is Calculus?

Before we start, I should probably give you a quick warning. The equations in this book thing look best when the story is set to black text and white background. The maths in this story is done on a separate program, as Wattpad will not let me write the equations straight into it, and so I have added in screenshots of all the examples.

Calculus can be simplified to "The Mathematics of Change", but it is a lot more than that.

Calculus can be split into two sub-branches called differential calculus and integral calculus. These are both inverses of each other. If you differentiate a function, you can integrate the derivative to get back to the function. Differential calculus is a lot easier.

Differential calculus mostly works on finding the derivative of a certain line, which is also known as the gradient. This can be found in both straight lines (like mx+c) or in the more complicated form, curved lines (like x^n).

Integral calculus is mostly focused on finding the area underneath the curve of a line or even just to find the anti-derivative (that is to say, given that x^n is the derivative of a function, what is the rule of the line?)

This book will go into detail about why everything works the way it does, and how to work it.

DISCLAIMER: The equations in this are quite difficult to write. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are complex, but as I am writing it all in LaTeX (or Lamport's Τεχ), it takes a very long time to type out. One of the simplest equations in the book was written in a little over 30 minutes. The point is that with everything going on in my life, such as the stupid Grade 8 curriculum (ugh) and homework, plus the added difficulty of writing in LaTeX, it may take a while for me to post a new chapter, but I will try to post every week. Also, if you have come to this book to learn calculus, and there is something that I have written that doesn't make sense, please either comment on the book or send me a private message.

Edit

The book has been added upon since starting, so now it includes new content every week (hopefully), with information for a bunch of different branches of mathematics (from counting to Calculus). This book started out as simply a Calculus book, but when I have written enough, I will move the first chapters (about Calculus) to where they should be.
