Chapter 2: The Wrong Words

"Wow", exclaimed Priya. It was a massive one. She entered it and found a sitting area on her left and a side table on the right. Further into the room, she realised she also had an anti-chamber which again was very well-furnished. Her table, in front of the anti-chamber, was stocked with everything Veer had promised her.

Her new project files were in place, the official e-mail ID and Password was scribbled on a piece of paper with other important phone numbers she will be needing in the job. As a whole,it was Perfect.

Priya was so lost in her thoughts that she hardly noticed her assistant Maryam walk in. She had a warm and reassuring smile and her light brown eyes shined bright under the Sun. "Good morning Priya Ma'am. I am Maryam Singh. And I am so glad to be your assistant."said Maryam extending her hand. But instead of shaking it, Priya stood there perplexed. Priya was familiar with her face and suddenly glimpses of scenes flashed in my head. She was having a vision.
Maryam also stood there like a statue with her hands extended as a tiny tear drop, almost not at all noticable, fell from her left eye.

Fortunately, this silence did not last more than a minute. Both the ladies regained their composture and shook hands.
"Good morning Maryam. It is lovely to meet you. I was hoping you could fill me up with all that has been done in this project."said Priya to avoid talking about that awkward silence they had just experienced. Honestly, Priya didn't know how she was having such visions all of a sudden.

"Is it because of that dream?"Priya thought. But she had those dreams since 3 years now. Nothing like this had ever happened before. Thinking about this, she listened to Maryam briefing her on the progression being done on the project and the work she had to continue.

"Veer is this all true?" said Maryam. "I mean did you know about this?"

"No Maryam. I definitely didn't know about this or else I would never have hired her. But I don't know how it got so messed up..."said Veer. He had been thinking about this the whole morning. He thought he might have had it confused but now Maryam's confirmation, made it clear. He indeed had messed up.

And he got a cold chill along his spine the 2nd time that day!!

Priya was so engrossed in her work that she forgot all about lunch until Maryam came up to her 10 minutes before the break. "Priya Ma'am, everyone on the set are waiting to meet their new Art Director. Would like to come down and have lunch or should I send it upstairs?"asked Maryam cautiously.
"No Maryam. I'll come down and meet everyone. It is good to know your team. I could even use a break right now!"chuckled Priya and shut down her laptop.

Priya walked into her room exhausted. Her first week was so tiring and all she wanted to do was hit the bed. Just then, her phone rang. It was her fiancé, Karan.

"Hey Karan. I just came home from work. How are you?" said Priya receiving the phone.

"Hey Priya. I'm so glad to talk to you now. It's been so long since I heard that cheerful voice of yours. I'm guessing the new job is great?"said Karan.
"Yes Karan. I am finally doing what I love. You know, it's the best feeling in the world. So where are you by the way? Work is good huh?"

"Yes of course I know that Priya. I'm currently going home. I have loads of work today. So I thought of calling you before I start doing it. And Priya... I wanted to tell you something...
I love you Priya!!"

"Wow.. someone is being Romantic today. I love you too Rajat. And let's video call tomorrow. It's been long. Anyways, I got to go now. I'll talk to you later. Good night. Byeee."

"Umm. Okay bye Priya!"

"Did she say Rajat?"laughed the visitor. "And you say you love her so much."
"So my guess was true. She has got it back" shouted the visitor.
Karan kept the phone and looked at his visitor. He was sitting on the chair and looking at Karan. Karan tried to get up but he was pushed down.
"I swear I don't know what you are talking about. She hasn't told me anything about her work."
"Maybe. But I don't want to take the risk Karan!!"

And the next minute, everything went blank.

"Priya, there are some people who have come to meet you. They...."said Maryam walking to Priya's office.
Priya looked up to find 2 policemen standing in front of her. "Hi Priya Raj. I am Inspector Pandey and this is Inspector Sana. We have to talk to you about your fiancee Karan Singhania. Have you seen him lately?"
"I spoke to him on call when I went to my room this weekend. He hasn't called since then. Why what happened?"

"He was found dead in his apartment!!"
