Gauri's small hands trying hard to drape the fairy lights around the pillar that was mountainous compared to her petite frame. She huffed, tired of trying again and again. But wasn't ready to give up yet ; still clutching the strands of the lights in her one hand and holding the giant pillar with the other for support.

"Rehne do. Tumse nehi hoga."

His very similar voice teased from behind, causing a frown on her face. She turned furious, ready to give him an earful for making fun of her. But to her bad, the stool she was standing on, quaked, to have her moving incoherent and her feet slipped off the stool. She almost screamed out of fear as her eyes closed and shrunken body ready to kiss the ground.

His strong pair of arms reached to catch her, only to end up on the cold mosaic floor, with her on top of him. The fairy lights she was holding in her hand, joined them a second later, scattered all over the floor.

She flickered her lashes open, not feeling an ounce of pain. As she found his mahogany eyes staring deep into her honey brown orbs, her heart started jumping fast in her ribs. Her cheeks heated up, making it difficult for him to control the urges of caressing those rosy cheeks. As if making the moment picture perfect, the string lights mounted on the wall lit up, adding a warm glow as the soft lamp in the evening. She lowered her gaze, feeling his intense gaze piercing through her lashes.

Omkara's lips curved up into a smirk at the sight. It's not everyday you watch the dabang chiraiyya all blushing and stealing glances. "You are blushing." He said brushing off the fringes that were blocking his view.

"Nehi to." She snapped out in her defense, not ready to accept that his closeness was affecting her a bit too much.

He chuckled. "Okay okay. You are not blushing." He said throwing his head back on the tiled floor as the unalloyed laughter broke his lips.

Sucking in a breathe to calm his erratic heartbeat resulted by the stream of laughter, Omkara called out Gauri's name. "Can you please get up ? Tum choti ho, par moti bhi ho."

Aur phail gaya raita !

"What did you just say ?" Gauri jumped off him as her eyes flared up. "Aapne humein moti kaha ?" Her arms rested on hips as she let out an unbelieving snort. "Aapne humein moti kaha ?" She repeated her question again. This time her eyebrows scrunched and lips twisted in umbrage.

"Uh..oh..Gauri.." Settling himself on his feet as he shot off the ground instantly, Omkara let out a nervous laugh, not knowing what else to do as he could contemplate the damage of his words. He had always known that a man should never call his woman fat as it could literally graze him to death. And in his case, his little wife wasn't even plump. In fact she had the finest curves that sometimes drove away his sleep of nights. What he said a minute before was just to tease her. But he should have known better. Using the word "moti" for a woman could bring anyone the worst. And soaking in her little frame shivering in rage could easily warn him what was coming next.

He took a few steps back, swallowing hard.

"Kya keh rahe the aap ?" She raised a brow, as if challenging him to repeat his own words.

"Main toh bass..." And he was cut off.

"What is going on here ?" Svetlana's sharp and grouchy voice interrupted as she stood right at their opposite direction, scrunching her botox face.

Her penetrating howl made Gauri roll her eyes. This woman always had bad timing.

As she walked to them, with her hips swaying and lips twisted into a fake and ugly smile, Gauri's face already had a disgusting look. This woman leaves no chance seducing men, Gauri mused.

But why was she here ?

Of course, for Omkara, the man who was committed to her. The realization hit her right at the left side of her chest. No matter what Omkara said to comfort her, the truth was, he'll be marrying some other woman, in a few days, before her eyes.

With the bitter truth digging deep into her consciousness, Gauri moved aside, giving Svetlana the way. The anger was now replaced by a look could easily convey one how hurt she was. The helplessness of not being able to forget the seven rounds she had taken around the holy fire, along with Omkara was swallowing her. And the intuition that she was still standing where he had left her once, all alone, made it more miserable for her.

"Tum yahan kya kar rahe ho ? Main tumhe kab se dhoond rahi thi." Svetlana used her sweetest tone.

Gauri's chain of thoughts broke as she heard her. Leaned against Omkara's forearm, Svetlana was now grazing her perfectly manicured fingers over his muscles. She could smell her insides burn at the sight. But then, there was nothing she could do. After all, Svetlana was to be married to him in a few days. They would be more close once they are married. So much that there would be no barrier between them.

No. She could not think further.

The mere thought was infuriating her too much. And the sight offered to her eyes just made her want to tear her apart from his body and stick her to the wall with her Bareilly famous jhaap.

But look at her husband ! He wasn't even resisting. Why would he ? After all Svetlana had a slim figure and a sleek waist unlike her.

Urrghh !! She just wanted to strangle both of them, together.

"Tum jao aur aapna kaam karo." Svetlana snapped her fingers at her. "Mujhe aapne Omkara se akele mein kuch baat karni hain." And that was the last blow.

With her teeth gritting and face crimson as dusk, she cast a last glance on him, before leaving the place.

Omkara gulped a lump of saliva. He was gone.

When Omkara reached the kitchen, later on, looking for her, she was already done making the henna cones. She had felt his presence right behind her back. And the heat emitting his body confirmed the same. But she was fixated at her place. Not even feeling him breathing over her nape, she did turn to face him. Having him snaking his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder, Gauri froze.

This wasn't something she could let happen. She was already mad at him and he was to suffer for calling her fat and then, for fueling the fire of her rage by not stopping that snake from throwing herself on him. She could spare him for calling her fat though. But for sticking to Svetlana ?

A big fat no.

Shoving him off her body, she rolled behind to face. All the while, not forgetting to avoid an eye contact with him.

"Naraz ho ?" It was a statement more than a question.

"Nehi. Abhi bhi mehendi ki bohot taiyyari baki hain. Humein chalna chahiye." With the silver plate carrying the cones in her hand, she left the kitchen, not even sparing him a glance.

Omkara knew he had called for a chaos. He knew she was angry for what he had called her. Maybe upset as well. But the reason he had known and the reason that roiled her were completely different.

And that's the wrap up for the day.

Press the star if you like and do let me know what you feel.

Svetlana's truth will be out in a maximum three or four chapters as I don't want to drag it. Still, if anyone feels the pace is too slow, do let me know.
