Geneva Hartsfield looked intently at herself in the mirror as she fixed her long black braids into a neat bun. "okay you can do this, just stand tall and be strong". This was geneva's first day of ninth grade at her new school , perry high since she moved to oakland california from her hometown of Houston Texas. although the school geneva was going to was very nice and it was located in the rich part of town, Geneva was still lonely because she knew no one in oakland besides her mom and her aunt jackie that lived in another section of the city. "Geneva lets go ", called geneva's mother from their small kitchen while examining her makeup in the mirror. She was a tall and curvy woman with long jet black hair and hazel eyes, Geneva looked nothing like her. having resembled her father geneva was short and thick with hazel eyes. "Geneva i have a breakfast taco for you on the table, we have to go you cant be late for your first day at perry." her mom said . "i dont want to go to that prison" geneva whispered . That prison is the school i paid $500 for you to get your behind into. that prison is_______" "mom i get it im sorry i just dont think i am going to fit in with all of the other kids". "geneva, its not about fitting in it's about getting your education and learning something" her mother quietly said. Geneva then picked up the breakfast taco and her backpack and headed out the door following her mother.
