I watched as the two seniors began shoving each other and cursing loudly in the halls. By this time all the seniors and half the juniors were watching the fight. Although may I add, some more loudly than others. Sighing, I walked past the group of people chanting 'fight!' and made my way to my locker.
I quickly turned my lock in the correct combination and opened it. My books had become awfully heavy this year since I took so many AP classes. Stacking the two books I needed for my next class, which would be quite boring without Kelsy, I glanced quickly at the picture of my best friend and I walking on the beach together. God, I missed her so much.
She had been out of town with her parents to visit her ill grandma for a week and she did not know when she was returning. I was just about to close the locker door, when it closed itself. Weird... A gust of wind maybe?
I made my way down to AP History. But before I could walk any further and just as the bell rang I spotted a very familiar face in the halls wearing a huge broad smile. I ran as fast as a human can run at rush hour in the high school halls and made my way towards her.
She had obviously spotted me earlier and just stood there, arms crossed and smiling with her curly jet black hair framing her face. Her eyes sparkled the way they always did when she was happy or excited. She was in her usual clothing, which meant that her grandmother had not died. If she had, Kelsy would probably be wearing all black.
"Autumn!" She screamed loud enough to make everyone look at us. I hugged her quickly and pulled back.
"Kelsy, you visit your grandma for an entire week one more time and leave me with these retards, I will have your head! Understood?" I said with a complete poker face.
"Yes ma'am," She did an army salute.
We both laughed as we made our way to our next class, which we had together. She told me what she had done when out of town and I caught her up on the newest school drama. Including my crush’s status changing from “single” to “taken”.
Then again, he was a quarter of the junior year's crush this year. And by a quarter I mean all the single girls. Yeah, you probably guessed right. He is the star of the soccer team, Oliver Wright.
"Oh my poor baby! He's not worth your tears!" Kelsy cooed as she rubbed my back when I told her about Oliver. We were both sitting in AP History class and waiting for the teacher.
"Kelsy I'm not sad, honestly," I shook her off me and rolled my eyes dramatically. It was true, I mean I had liked him for two years now but it's not like I was going to sit in a corner and cry.
"Come on, not even the tiniest bit sad?" she asked. When I shook my head she just shrugged and went back to writing down the notes she had missed in AP History.
After class finished, I made my way to the Biology lab. Kelsy and I would be separated until lunch since we didn't have second period together. She had Gym and I had Biology, my favorite subject. As I was about to walk down the flight of stairs, I felt my foot slip and I fell face first. The first thing I thought? AGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then I realized I hadn't felt any impact. I slowly opened my eyes and realized I was just an inch above the floor. Before I could think any further, the one inch distance between the floor and I cleared and I was lying on it. I was so glad that no one else was in the hallway because I had been excused out of class earlier, or else I would face total humiliation. I gathered myself up, brushed off some supposed dirt and continued to walk towards the Biology lab.
