It felt as if time had stopped as I stood there. People moved through Shibuya as if nothing had changed, phasing through my body as I was still tuned into the UG. I vaguely remembered almost dropping my phone and scrambled to catch it before holding it back up to my ear. I took in a deep breath to calm my racing heart.
"What the hell did you do to him you bastard?!"
"As I've said. Nothing yet. But you're going to run a few errands for me. Don't hang up," Itsuki said, letting out a low chuckle.
"What do you want?"
"First I need you to find someone."
"Let me guess, the Composer? Like I told you I don't control what he do-" Itsuki cut me off with deep chuckle.
"No, not him. I want you to find Shibuya's Producer."
I wasn't sure what he was talking about. As far as I knew and as for the knowledge of the other Reapers there wasn't any position known as a Producer. If it truly does exist, then maybe there's a reason I had never heard of it before. Although, seeing how Angels and Fallen Angels appeared to be involved with the Game itself, anything was possible. Itsuki ignored my silence and continued to speak.
"Hm? You seem awfully silent. Let me guess, you don't know what a Producer is, do you?"
"Should I?" I looked around. An ad appeared on 104 for the red skull pins that Neku had helped promote during his first week in the Game. Various other clothing trends had appeared on the building as commercials played endlessly, never ceasing to stop.
"I suppose not," Itsuki said. "After all, his position is supposed to remain a secret but somethings just can't be helped at times like these can they? I mean, many people have found themselves to be connected to Neku in some way, shape, or form. And let's be honest, that Sakuraba kid may have been good in the Game but he's nothing without his psyches."
I clenched my teeth together knowing that he was right. Since Neku wasn't in the Game anymore or connected to the UG, his psyches were as good as useless to him. Even with them, however, Neku wouldn't have lasted a chance against Itsuki who has already proven to be a difficult enemy to defeat. The only hope we have is that someone on par with his skill or Joshua perhaps were to fight him alongside the other Reapers. The latter would never do that though.
"Isn't it weird to have a Composer and Conductor but not a Producer? Let me give you some basic knowledge on Producers. They're Angels, much like I once was, and they act as guardians for the Reapers' Game, making sure that everyone, especially the Composer follows the rules. Although, Shibuya's Producer is a bit unique. Sound like anyone you know?" Itsuki asked.
I pursed my lips together. There was one person who stood out with that description and he's been a mystery to the Reapers for a long time. And it was clear that Itsuki knows who this Producer is. It was obvious but I didn't want to reveal any information to him outright. There has to be a reason I've never been informed of Producers before and I didn't want to dwell on what would happen to me now that I have information on them when it was clear that I wasn't supposed to know about them.
"Why do you want the Producer? What does Neku have to do with any of this?" I asked. I glanced over towards Shibu Department Store. I know exactly where he is.
"Neku? He's just to ensure that you do as you're told. After all, who knows what could happen to him. And I know the Composer's soft spot for him as well which is just more convenient for me. And the Producer just brings me one step closer to my goal."
