Age 1

Kakashi sat on the couch, reading a book while his one year old sister sat on his lap, "reading" with him.

Since his father went on a mission, he would be left alone to take care of his sister, Akemi. He was but a mere four year old yet he was already reading and looking after his younger sister alone.

Wow. War really did make children grow faster.

The Hatake guessed she was simply curious or just wanted to sit near him. Either way, he found it sweet and rather cute.

The brown eyed girl tilted her head to the side as she looked at the weird scribbles on the weird white thing.

Yes, the weird white thing.

She turned her gaze to look at her brother. He had on this weird other black thing on his face.

Her eyes landed on the odd silver things on his head.

They looked soft! It also looked nice so...

Kakashi glanced down at the small girl on his lap, raising a brow as she moved to kneel on his lap and extend her arm up to reach for his hair.

It really was soft! The smaller silverette giggled once she was able to get a hold of it.

She pulled on it, wanting to get more. Her brother flinched.

"O-ow.." Kakashi took her hand and gently placed it back to her side.

Though she was a small child, she was really strong! He swore if she did that again when she'd be older his hair would rip off his head.

She frowned, eyes getting glossy with tears. Is Nii-san mad?...is he hurt? Did I hurt him? I don't want Nii-san to cry...

The silver haired girl started crying.

Kakashi's eyes widened, his book falling from his hand.

"Akemi! Are you okay?" He asked, worried but at the same time confused. What did he do? He swore he held unto her hand gently.

Akemi's lips trembled as silent tears streamed down her face.

She hated seeing her brother cry. She saw him cry once, and that was when she had woke up in her crib in her and Kakashi's shared bedroom. She didn't know what he was crying about, but she knew it must have been bad.

Akemi cried harder into his chest.

Kakashi sighed, rubbing circles on her tiny back in a soothing sort of manner.

"It's okay, it's okay. Don't cry." The Hatake smiled, seeing as One's sobs turned into soft sniffs.

He honestly didn't understand why she would cry. Maybe because she liked touching his hair but he didn't let her? Because she thought he was being mean? Or was it because she thought he was mad? He'll try that one.

"I'm not mad, Akemi. It's okay." His hand moved up to ruffle her silver hair, making her look up at him.

Akemi blinked her unique brown eyes close and open. What's so unique about her brown eyes you say? You see, her brown eyes seemed to shine or glimmer just like stars, which was odd since stars weren't brown.

He pulled down his mask, showing his small smile.
"See? I'm not mad."

Nii-san was right! He didn't look mad at all!

Her face seemed to brighten up and she suddenly jumped, wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him.

I'm happy that he's happy! Tears reformed in Akemi's eyes once again and she sniffed.
