"jacob, can you please make me a snack?" jacob's younger sister pleaded.

"marley, what did i tell you, mom is going to be home any minute with dinner."

"but i'm hungry now can i please have something to eat?" she pleaded. then their mom walked in with bags in her hand that had the panda express logo on them.

"finally, you took forever!" jacob sighed.

"mom! your home!" marley ran over and took the bags from her and took them in the kitchen.

"hey marley, hey jacob. are you guys hungry?"

marley looks just like their mom. they both have light brown hair that is wavy and brown eyes. jacob, on the other hand, looks just like his dad as far as he knows. he has very dark brown hair and hazel eyes. and his dad, well, nobody really knows. he left when their mom found out she was pregnant. they don't know where marley's dad is either. their mom got pregnant on a one night stand when she went through a rough drinking patch 14 years ago.

"mmmm, that was so good, thank you mom," jacob said.

"oh, no problem sweet pea," his mom replied, "ok, you two go get ready for bed. i know tomorrow is a big day for both of you."

tomorrow was his first day as a senior in high school, and he was not exited at all. but marley on the other hand, being 13 and going into 8th grade, was very exited to be able to see all her friends again. even though she was with them pretty much every day of the summer.

jacob walked down the hall of their apartment and in to the room on the left side of the hall while marley walked into her room, which was next to his. their mom's room was across from jacob's.

when he got to his room he grabbed an old U2 shirt and a pair of sweats and walked off to the bathroom across from Marley's room to take a shower. as he walked out of his room marley ran out of her room and tried to beat jacob to the bathroom. so he ran into the bathroom and shut the door before she could get there.

"moooom, jacob pushed me just so she could get to the shower first!" marley screamed.

"i did not you little brat!" he shouted from inside the bathroom.

"yes you did," she screeched and smirked as their mom came over.

"mom he is lying just so he can take the shower first, plus he will use up all the hot water if he goes first!"

"marley, did jacob actually push you or are you faking it?" my mom questioned.

"she really pushed me mom." she lied with puppy-dog eyes but their mom could see right through it.

"ok, marley let jacob shower and you can take one later."

"thank you mom." he cracked open the door.

20 minutes later the water turned off in the bathroom and jacob walked out.

"finally, you took forever. is there any hot water left?"

"no, sorry." he said sarcastically.

she rolled her eyes and went into the bathroom and turned on the shower, not caring how warm it was anymore.

jacob slipped on his pajamas and looked at his phone. he had gotten a text from one of his only friends alex kelly, who also happened to live in australia. they met on a minecraft game when we were like 10. they just kind of became friends and started emailing, then they got each others number and started texting and stuff. he is one of jacob's only friends, as lame as that sounds, it is true. he is just not one of those people to make friends easily so he only has a few friends form school and they aren't that close.

alex boiiii: hey do you think i should dye my hair platinum?

jayyyyyy: no way, if you keep dying your hair...

alex boiiii: i know, i know, all my hair will fall out by the the time i'm 30. you tell me all the time but i swear this is the last time...i think.

jayyyyyy: that's what you always say... anyway i am going to go to bed, ill text you in the morning. night.

alex boiiii: ok, goodnight.
