*Kiela's POV*

As my mother and I come up to the orphanage, open the door, and walk in, we are greeted by Mary the Lady Caretaker of the place.  She smiles at us and welcomes us.

"Luna and Future Alpha its a pleasure to have you join us today to spend time with the children.  Hopefully you are both doing well today?" She asks kindly as she smiles at us.

She is an older wolf who has a few kids of her own, but they have moved away and started families of their own now, and her husband is a warrior so she takes care of the orphans for the pack along with some of the other elderly ladies.

"We are doing well thank you.  It is always a pleasure to come and see the children as always.  Have there been any adoptions since last time?" My mother responds lovingly.

"There has been 3 adoptions and 5 requests with 2 of the requests being outside the pack.  After the 8 adoptions that will leave us with 12 children left Luna."  Mary replied.

"That's excellent to hear that so many pups are going to have families to take them in.  If everything looks good and the interviews go well then approve all of them that you see fit.  I trust your judgement as always."  My mother smiled.

"Of course.  If you will follow me the kids are right this way and excited for your visit today."

So we followed Mary and the other she-wolves towards the play area where the children were gathered for story time and lunch with us.  I was excited because I always wanted to have children someday so I loved our visits to the orphanage and spending time with the children.  I just hate the fact that these kids had to grow up without their parents in their lives but happy that most of them got adopted to homes with loving families.

"Alright kids today is story time and then lunch with our Luna and Future Alpha.  Let's gather around and listen as the Luna tells us the story of our pack origins.  Future Alpha Kiela would you like to help prepare lunch?"

"Please just Kiela but I don't mind at all."  I reply with a smile as I follow Mary into the kitchen and help make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit cups, and grape juice for the kids.

"You said there were 12 children left but I only saw 11.  Where was the other child if I may ask?"

"Unfortunately little Samuel barely leaves his room.  He is actually a recent addition.  He was brought in after being found in the woods by one of the patrol teams.  He was surrounded by 4 dead rogues and unconscious.  No parents in sight and he didn't smell rogue according to the patrol team.  They later found a couple that had been killed and turns out they were his parents.  He just said a man covered in blades was walking by and saved him.  Since then he has barely spoken a word."  Mary replied melancholy.

"O my goodness!  May I go see him by chance?  Maybe I could get him out for a bit and he might open up?"  I asked in shock.

"Certainly my lady.  Right this way."

Mary wipes her hands off on her apron and motions me to follow as we head off to the rooms in search of Samuel.  We get to the rooms and start looking through each one until we finally find him in the second to last room in the first floor hallway.

"Samuel dear.  Ms. Kiela our Future Alpha is here to speak with you."  She tells him after opening the door, then she turns to me.  "Go ahead and go on in.  If you need anything don't hesitate to let me know."

I thank her before she walks off and I step into the room and walk over to Samuel cautiously.  He seems so young and is just laying there on his bed staring at the ceiling as if no one else is even there.  It must have been a very traumatic experience for him.  I can't even begin to imagine going through something like losing one's parents especially at such a young age.

"Hello Samuel, I'm Kiela.  How are you today?"  I ask with a smile as I sit gently on his bed and look over at him.

"Fine Ma'am."  He replies in a small timid voice as he sits up and looks at the floor trying not to be disrespectful.

"Would you like to get out and go for a walk by chance?"

I see him brighten up and he glances up with a small smile before looking back at the floor.

"Could we go to the hospital?  I have a friend there who I wanted to give a birthday present to but didn't know if I could."  He says it so quietly that if it weren't for my werewolf hearing I wouldn't have heard him at all.

"Of course lets go! I just need to let the ladies know and we can head off.  Grab your gift for your friend and I'll meet you at the front door ok?" I say to him with a bright smile.

"Right away!"  He jumps up, grabs a wrapped up gift and slips his shoes off before heading to the door as I go and let the ladies know.

"Mrs. Mary and Mom.  I'm going to the pack hospital so Samuel can see a friend for their birthday if that's alright.  We'll be back shortly."

" No problem just be safe and enjoy the time out."

This is the first time he has left the building since coming here"  I heard Mary whisper excitedly to my mother as we left out the front door.

As we walked Samuel and I talked a bit and got to know each other more. I learned he is 8 years old but a little small for his age, he loves nature, and hopes to one day find the man who save his life and somehow repay him.  I wanted to ask what happened but didn't want to pry and cause him to shut down on me so I just let him talk as we walked.  He was especially excited to see his friend and give him the gift he made.  It was a macaroni friendship bracelet and necklace.

Just as we reached the pack hospital I saw my father along with his advisors: the Beta, Delta, and Gamma.  I motioned to Samuel and we sped up to my father to see what they were up to.
