*Olden's POV*

"Ahh I see you have taken an interest in my daughter Kiela."  Anthony chuckles at me as he gives me a knowing look.  I feign ignorance and keep my mask of indifference on though as I gaze back at him.  "I apologize Mr. Anthony but I'm not sure what you mean."  I refuse to allow myself to get attached to anyone ever again for fear of losing them or them dying while I'm stuck living on.  Its best that I keep everyone at a distance.

"You never answered me though.  Will you be willing to stay in my home as a guest until you depart?  By the way how long do you plan to stay?"  Anthony asked me with an indecipherable look on his face.

"I appreciate it but I prefer living in the woods with Nature.  I haven't lived in a building in a long time.  I also plan to stay long enough to spend some time with Samuel here if that is alright then I will move on so that I won't be any trouble to you and the people of your..... town."  I reply carefully trying my best not to sound rude or inconsiderate.

"I do have to ask though why are so many people here to see me and how did I get to be in this hospital?  The last thing I remember was being by a highway before feeling something break and I blacked out."  I noticed all the guys look at each other nervously and like they were silently communicating with each other trying to figure out how best to respond to my questions.

Just then a nurse came in and asked everyone to leave as her, and the doctor that walked in behind her, checked me out to see how I was progressing.  Anthony nodded in understanding and seemed to once again talk to the nurse and doctor silently before him and his guys walked out followed by Kiela and Samuel after Sam hugged me and thanked me for saving him again.

After being checked out and asked some questions about my history which I had to fib about a bit they gave me some meds through an IV and I knocked out.

Thanks to the meds I fell into a peaceful sleep for the first time in a long time and dreamt of a woman who glowed as bright as the moon with hair as black as a starless night talking to a woman who looked similar but at the same time felt like a gentle breeze on the perfect day.  Strangely the second female seemed very familiar and I couldn't figure out why.  I did get to hear what they were talking about and it was about.....me....

*Kiela's POV*

As we walked out of the room I couldn't help but think about how amazing my mate was with Samuel and that made me want to jump into his arms right then and there but I knew it wasn't time and I wanted to make sure he would accept me before I told him about me being a werewolf.  I just hope he would accept me because humans seem to think in werewolf stories that we get more than one mate but it's not that simple.

Yes we can be rejected and yes there is a chance to be granted what is referred to as a second-chance mate but that doesn't necessarily mean we will be blessed enough for that to happen if rejection happens.  Basically in order to actually receive a second mate your first has to reject you without you pushing them to do it in any way or they have to be killed in battle such as a war or something.  Then you go before the Moon Goddess and present your case to request another mate and she will decide if you are worthy to be granted, once more, a chance at happiness.

"Kiela what are you thinking about dear?" My father gently prods me out of my thoughts as we walk.

"Can we discuss it in private please?"

"Sure thing.  Take Samuel to the orphanage and I'll have Drake, Flint, and Trent out of the office by the time you return deal?"  He asks smiling at me kindly.

"I won't be long and thank you.  Come on Samuel let's get you home now alright?"  I say as I turn to Samuel as I see him jump at being addressed.  It seems he was lost in his own thoughts as well.

"Race ya!"  With that he takes off and I chase after him and we are both laughing as we come up to the building.

"I win! I win!" He says as he jumps around excitedly and cheering with his hands in the air.

"Alright.  Alright. But let's get you inside before the ladies get upset and you need to eat mister."  I say chuckling at his enthusiasm.

"I have to go but I will catch up with you later alright Sam?"

"Yes Ma'am.  Will you play with Olden and me when he gets out please?"

I stand there shocked but quickly cover it up.  "We'll see now go before you get in trouble little pup."  With that we wave and I rush off to the pack house to see my  father.

------------

Reaching the pack house where my father's office is I compose myself before walking in immediately everything goes silent.  Sadly I've always been on the outside looking in.  It's always been hard to make friends with my peers because right from birth I was trained to take my father's place as Alpha of the pack.  This made people view me from a distance and paired with my awkwardness to make small talk I've pretty much only had my sisters for friends growing up.

Shaking my head I motion for everyone to carry on as I hold my head up proudly and head to the Alpha's office to discuss what happened in the room with my mate.  I just hope my father understands and will help me with his sage-like advice because this is so very new to me and him and my mother have been together for 50 years at least.

I reach the office and the guards aren't even there which is strange as they usually are but the Alpha must really want us to have privacy which I appreciate greatly.  I step up to the door and before I can knock he calls me in.

"Come in Kiela."

Here goes nothing.
