Striving for Perfection. (Niall Horan fanfic)

Chapter Eleven.

Two months after the Olympics, Josh and I were a couple now. I saw him every weekend. I hadn’t talked to Niall since the night at the hotel.  I was about to leave my dorm to go to training when my phone started ringing.

‘Hello?’

‘Hello, Lucy Hemsdale?’ a male voice said over the phone

‘That’s me’

‘Hi this is Kim McGrath the Great Britain Gymnastics team coach. I am offering you a place and McGrath gym.’ He said

McGrath gym, the best Gymnastics gym in the world. It is made up of people from all over the world that Kim McGrath transferred. It is made up of the best of the best. They weren’t involved in the Olympics this year. I couldn’t believe that I was being asked to move there, everyone in the gym had talked about it.

‘I will get back to you’ I said

He gave me his number and then I walked down to the gym.

‘Lucy why are you late?’ coach asked

‘I got a call from McGrath Gym, they want me to be a part of their team’ I said

Everyone screamed and hugged me

‘You said yes right?’ Sophie asked

‘I said I would get back to them’

‘Lucy, can I talk to you please?’ Coach asked

We went and sat on the seats while the others trained.

‘Do you want to go?’ he asked

‘Of course I do’

‘Well you should’ he smiled

‘Don’t you want me here?’

‘Of course, you are a two time gold medallist in the same Olympics. But I know how much you have wanted to be involved there, so you should go. Ring them now and go as soon as you can’

‘Thank you Coach’

I went back to my room and called Kim McGrath back.

‘Hey, it’s Lucy. I would love to come join you’

‘We will organise a flight for you and get back to you about it’ he said

‘Thank you’

I went back to the gym and told them and then the phone rang. The Gym phone so Coach answered it.

‘Lucy, you leave tomorrow night at seven’ he said

‘Thank you, I better go pack’ I said

After I packed I met up with Lauren and Sophie in the park. We organised to have lunch tomorrow.

‘What are you going to tell Josh?’ Lauren asked

I had forgotten all about that. I wasn’t allowed to leave campus tomorrow to see him, unless he was at the airport.

‘I will ask him to come to the airport so I can say goodbye’ I said ‘I will call him when I go home’

I got home and called Josh and told him, he was happy for me but I knew he didn’t want me to leave. He was going to meet me at the airport tomorrow at about five thirty. I was so happy to be training at the best gym in the world. To have Coach McGrath.

At the airport I was sitting with Josh. I had about an hour to be with him until I went to London. I didn’t want to leave him, and he didn’t want me to leave but he knew I had to.

‘I don’t want to say goodbye’ I pouted

‘I don’t either, but you deserve this. We will keep in contact okay’

‘Okay’

‘I love you’ he said kissing my head

‘I love you too’

I stood up and we said our goodbyes and then I went through security. I got on my plane and all I could think about was leaving Josh. But I knew I would love it and I knew I couldn’t let a relationship ruin this for me.

When I arrived in London the coach was there to pick me up, when we got there he told me to go for a walk around London for a while if I wanted to so I did. I walked around looking at all the shops and that’s when I saw him Niall.

He was walking towards me but he hadn’t noticed me yet, he was by himself. We didn’t say anything to each other, we just kept walking and I knew, that things would never be the same.
