After all the drama and Mom telling so-called dad to leave, I didn’t want to go to school, and I know mom is going to be lonely today, so I decided to stay at home.
Mom and I baked cookies, talked for hours sharing our problem, and I was about to tell her about my new friend from school when the doorbell rang.
Mom stood up angrily and started shouting. “If it’s you Thompson then go or else I will call the cops”.
“Mom, calm down, maybe it’s not him. Let me go check”.
As I was about to open the door, I prayed silently that it won’t be him, or else world war three will start between him and mom. I was surprised when I opened the door it was Megan; I wasn’t expecting to see her.
“Come in,” I said. “Please sit.”
“Mom, this is my friend, Megan. Megan, meet mom.”
Mom looked happy to see her. “Hazel, get her water.”
I quickly went to the kitchen, wondering who gave her my address.
I brought the cookies that Mom and I baked, water, and soda.
“Here you go, Megan,” I said while placing it on the side table, “So, what brings you here?”.
“I’m...a...well...actually…”.
She took 2 minutes before answering. She was really acting weird, what was wrong with her?.
She kept putting her hand in her bag, so I tried peeping inside.,
Before she could say anything, I spoke, “Megan, what the hell are you doing with a gun in your bag? explain!”.
I thought she was going to speak but instead, she brought out the gun from her bag and pointed it at mom.
“Mom!” I yelled while dragging her off the chair.
“What is wrong with you, Megan?! What do you want from us? Who are you, the Silent Killer?”.
“No,” she yelled, starting to cry. “I’m sorry, Hazel, but I have to do this.”
She aimed the gun at Mom and this time, she pulled the trigger.
“Mom, please, wake up, wake up mom- What have you done?!”.
Then she began laughing like a psycho. “Don’t worry, Hazel, you will soon join her, it’s your turn to die.”
I stood up quickly. “You can’t kill me! I don’t die!”.
“You have to,” she shouted.
“But who are you and what have I done to you?”.
I thought she wouldn’t tell me but started talking.
“Well, Hazel I’m telling you this because you are going to die. I’m not who you think I am. I’m not The Silent Killer, but consider me a partner of his. Everyone thought he worked alone. He doesn't. He has people everywhere.
I tried to save myself when she turned her back, running upstairs and locking the door. I could hear Megan walking upstairs angrily, my heart pounding.
I didn’t want to do it but I had no choice. I put my phone in my pocket and jumped out of the window.
I ran, knocking on my neighbors’ doors. No one answered, probably because it was 12:00 at night.
I was already tired but kept running until coming across another neighborhood.
