The Silent killer

THE END

After I left Robert’s house, I didn’t know what to do or where to go. I had no plans. I decided to go back home; I’m sure Megan won’t be there and it will be the last place she will look for me.

 I need to perform mom's last rites, she has suffered a lot in this world. The least I can do is to make sure her soul rests in peace by performing them.

The house was dark, I reached out for the switch, but before I could, the lights went on.

I was shocked by what I saw- Megan.

I couldn’t move or talk until I gathered my thoughts and started talking.

“Megan, what are you doing here?”.

“I should be asking you that, Hazel, I thought you wouldn’t come back.”

“You know that no matter how long you run away from death it will eventually come. You dug your grave.”

           She stood with one leg on Mom's head and a large sword in her hand.

 I started to beg her, “please don’t kill me I beg you.” 

“Why won’t I kill you, first you snatch my father and then your mother killed my father.”

What the hell was she saying?”.

Her father?.

“What do you mean?”.

I wasn’t expecting her to tell me, but she starts to talk.

            “Your father was married to my mother, and when he found out my mother was pregnant, he left her, saying he doesn’t have the money to raise a child. But then he lied and your mother took my father away from us. He was actually cheating on my mother. He left her when she was pregnant, that’s why she moved towns and came to Basylon.

“When I was ten, my mom committed suicide. She left a note for me telling all your dad has done to her. When I came looking for dad, I found out he’s dead. How could he die before I could punish him for his mistake? Who killed him before me? When I searched, I found out your mother killed him with her boyfriend. Didn’t it click to you- how can a killer come in and kill your dad and not cause a scratch to your mom?.

“She must have fought to save your dad, but how can she not sustain any injury? And who stopped the police investigation? Your mom. Your mother is whacko person, she married my father for money and when she found someone richer than him, she killed dad to stay with another man.”

I was in total shock but thought   that she was right. Mom stopped the investigation, saying she doesn’t want to bring any trouble to us. That day when dad died, when I came home, Mom looked  okay, with no scratches or injuries. She married shortly after dad died.

I wish Megan was lying. I was completely shattered, crying uncontrollably.  

“Stop crying, ”she shouted,  “it’s  not going to help.”

When she continued criticizing mom,  I used my chance to run by, escaping through the door.

I have no one in this world,

            My life has been ruined, my mother is a murderer, and my step sister is a psycho who will kill me no matter what.

I saw a bus speeding into a distance,  and I watched as it came closer. Then I stepped in front of it.

I immediately fell to the ground and could feel life leaving me.

I don’t know if what I did was wrong, but that was the only thing I could do. Now the Identity of “The Silent Killer” remains a mystery.

  “Because the only person that knew little about him has died.”

           “Sometimes dying is not the solution, if Hazel has fought for her town, she would have been saved.”

“She thought she wouldn't be able to solve her problem.”

             “Stand up, fight your   problems, I am sure at the end you will be proud of yourselves.” 

           “Every problem and every issue has a solution- you just need to find it.” 

  “Have faith in yourself and never think you won’t be able to do it.”

“Rip Hazel, may your soul rest in peace.”
