chapter one

katie's pov;
"you ready to go?" my mom yelled to me from the other room of our small apartment in L.A. "yes mom! i'm more than ready!" i yell back hinting the sarcasm. "alright, katie. grab your stuff and get in the car." my mom said. "okay" i say, grab my stuff, and head to the car.

so basically, we are moving to berkshire england. i am not happy about it. it's a long ways away!!!! i don't wanna leave my friends from school, or my family that's here..

the reason we are moving is because my mom's best friend has been in the hospital with cancer. she doesn't have that long left, so we have to rush down there. my mother has already bought a house though. i'm excited for that at least.

my mom then gets in the car and there is an awkward silence as she begins driving to the airport.

"so are you excited?" my mom asked breaking the silence. "yeah, sure" i say sarcastically. "katie, i'm being serious." she replied. "and so am i!! i don't wanna move! i don't wanna leave my friends or our family.." i tell her sounding a bit upset at the ending.

i really don't want to go.. i mean, i'm okay with meeting new people and making new friends, but i just don't wanna leave the people i already have.

"i'm sorry katie.. i just need to be there for marissa." my mom said. wow, i sound really selfish, i thought to myself, "i know.. i'm sorry. i shouldn't be so selfish and self centered" i told my mom. with all honesty, i am being very selfish. we are leaving to help take care of my mothers friend.. i need to be there for my mom.  "honey, it's okay. i get where you're coming from. change can be hard and complicated sometimes. and who knows, maybe we will move back to L.A." she tells me. "it's okay mom. we can stay here as long as you need or want. i'll stop being selfish" i say with a small smile. i'm gonna be there for my mom, i have to, i thought to myself thinking about how she feels about marissa. "thank you sweetie, and don't worry, everything will be okay. i promise" she says and i smile at her.

i put my earbuds in, during the extra hour drive to the airport, and turn on billie ellish music. i love her, she is my favorite singer at the moment.

we finally pull up to the airport, we park and get all our stuff out of the car. one of the ladies, that works at the airport, came over to us to help us carry the stuff. that helped a lot.

we got onto the plane and took our seats. soon the plane began to take off, here we go, it's gonna be okay, i'll make the best of it, i think to myself as i stare out the window. i put my earbuds in again, and start playing shawn mendes, to pass some time.

i randomly start feeling someone tapping on me. i look to see it was my mom. "honey, wake up. we are here. the plane is going to land soon." mom says. i guess i fell asleep..

after a few minutes, i'm more awake, so i begin getting my extra stuff together. then i just wait for the plane to land.

we get off the plane about 10 minuets later and we grab our stuff and head to the car we have bought. we put our stuff in it and head off to the new house.

i look up and see us pulling into a drive way of a very nice, big, beautiful house.

here goes to a new start, i thought to myself as i began studying the two story house.
