It was quiet at the dorms, surprisingly for nine boys. Hyunjin lay on his bed, next to Seungmin, who was fast asleep. His other roommates, Han and Felix, were fast asleep in the bunkbeds across the room. He stared up at the ceiling, wishing he could just fall asleep.
He turned over onto the side that faced Seungmin, and instantly regretted it. The slightly younger boy was fast asleep, his face a picture of peaceful sleep. His mouth was slightly open and his bright red hair was messily spread across the pillow. What's worse was that his head was tilted back a little, and his neck was open and exposed.
This always happened when Hyunjin hadn't fed in a while. He closed his eyes, but that increased his sense of smell, so he opened them again. It wasn't hard to control his day-to-day cravings with coconut milk; for those of you who don't know, in situations of extreme need, coconut milk can be used as a blood substitute in blood transfusions, but every so often he found himself in situations like this, when he was tantalizingly close to a vein.
Vampires were mortal, Hyunjin had never understood why people portrayed them as pale husks of living creatures. He had a beating heart and working systems. He could eat and sleep just like a regular human. Animal blood did just fine, although it wasn't as satisfying. He ate steaks medium rare, and that did him over for a week.
That was another misconception humans had, that vampires had to constantly feed. That wasn't the case. A single ounce of blood could get Hyunjin safely through a week. If he fed heartily once, he may not have to feed for a month or more. It was easily controllable.
But it just so happened that Hyunjin hadn't fed in a couple of weeks, and his cravings were heightened while he was tired. And Seungmin was just lying there, unaware that Hyunjin was on fire with lust.
Hyunjin sat up, rubbing a hand over his face. He would drink some milk, maybe he'd even warm it up, and tomorrow he would insist on going out to eat so he could get a steak or something. He ran his tongue across his fangs, which had extended while he was thinking. He slipped out of bed, trying not to wake Seungmin up, and walked barefoot into the kitchen. He squinted at the bright light inside of the fridge, and had grabbed the coconut milk when something behind him made him almost drop the bottle.
He spun around, milk in hand, to see Seungmin standing there, running a hand through his messy hair.
"What are you doing, Hyunjinie?" He asked, his voice thick with sleep. He cleared his throat.
"I couldn't sleep," Hyunjin said, turning away from Seungmin. He was beautiful like this, he was beautiful anyway. Hyunjin took a mug from the cupboard and poured some milk into it, taking a sip before putting the mug in the microwave for thirty seconds. The sip sated him momentarily, but turning to see Seungmin still standing there awoke everything in him.
He was closer than before, his lip caught between his teeth and tugged up at the sides like he was trying not to smile.
"Why couldn't you sleep?" He asked, tilting his head to the side a little. If only he knew what he was doing.
"I couldn't stop thinking," Hyunjin said, praying that the microwave would hurry up. "I thought milk would help. I didn't mean to wake you up, I'm sorry."
"Don't apologise," Seungmin said, stepping a little closer. "Is there anything I can do to help you?"
Yes.
Seriously, since when was thirty seconds this long? Hyunjin felt like he was going to burst into flames. He wondered if Seungmin could see his blush. He stuttered a little, unable to form a word, let alone a sentence.
