" I wonder how much --- or if you remember what happ ---" I open my eyes to see Mae sitting at the foot of my bed. She was talking to herself before I opened my eyes. She's wearing another hoodie today, but this one is about five sizes too big for her. Her arms are drowning in its sleeves and it reaches down almost to her knees. There are the words "Denim '96 Original" written on its front. My mouth suddenly feels like sandpaper at the sight of her.
"Hey you..." she says smiling. "How'd you sleep last night?" "Well, have I got a dream to tell you about!" I say. While telling her about my dream, she starts to smile. "That felt like a lifetime ago Isaac. We were just about to graduate from high school. I was so insecure about myself that I thought that I didn't deserve you... You were always an eye-catcher Ike, but you still chose me. You would never let me believe I was less than amazing..." she said, her eyes taking on a distant glaze. "I remember that day. It was warm and we had nothing better to do, so we went to that park near your parent's place. That was our little spot, wasn't it?" I asked looking for assurance. "Yeah... those were the days Ike. I miss being so carefree sometimes..."
'That hoodie looks so familiar... Where have I seen it before? Wait, isn't that my hoodie?' "Mae? Are you wearing my hoodie?" I ask out of the blue. "Hmm?" Mae looks at me and then at the hoodie she's wearing. "Oh yeah... Actually, this is MY hoodie now. It was left to me after you came over to Andrea's place that one time..." she says with a jovial smile spreading across her face. "Wait a minute, I remember that day. Andrea had invited me, you and Shawn over for a 'couples movie night'. It was cold in A's house so I gave you my hoodie and then I never got it back. EVER." I say, giggling a little at the memory. "That was a fun night..." she says, sitting back in her chair.
