Real Writing

Real writing doesn't mean that the story has a happy ending, of a romance, of a true loves kiss. Real writing means it makes you feel something. It introduces you to characters you don't know. Throughout the story, even if it is a short story, you know the characters. You know who they are and what they might do, feel, or say when a certain thing happens. Where they might go or who they might turn to.

The story may not even tell you about characters even, but instead make you leap for joy, laugh till you cry, or cry till you have no tears to cry left. A book just about lists maybe, a book of a room, telling what happens in it. But it tells a story.

You could write about what's happening and people might just have to guess what they are feeling. But they become intertwined with the book. Drawn into it.
