"What the hell is Jack's problem tonight?" Alex thought to himself. "He's never been like this before."
Alex had been hopelessly confused by Jack's actions before their concert had even started. The older one - by six months - had never seen this behavior from his best friend before, and frankly, he wasn't exactly sure if he liked it or not. Their band, All Time Low, was at the midway point of their concert. This concert was on the smaller side; a small charity concert for a local cancer society. Not many people had come - give or take the few teenage girls in the front row - but the people who had come, they were sure getting a show.
Jack was constantly next to Alex - more or less always - but this concert, it was different. He'd be leaning against his buddy's back, playing his guitar; he'd practically be on top of Alex every five minutes and he'd try and steal a kiss on the cheek nearly every song, and by the time Jack decided he'd go for Alex's lips, Alex messed up on the song they were playing - forgetting words and messing up his guitar parts. Truth be told, Alex was at his breaking point; trying to ignore his best friend's antics right beside him was proving difficult.
He'd had enough.
But, nonetheless, the concert had to go on. There were kids from the local children's hospital there, and really, Alex was only still onstage for them. He knew that these kids, seeing one of their favorite bands perform, would make them happy. So incredibly happy. And really, he loved seeing kids smile because of his music. Seeing all the smiling faces would always have a special place in his heart.
Alex was trying to keep a calm and collected temper for the kids, but by their last song, he knew some people could see how genuinely annoyed with his tall, lanky best friend he was. He'd glance and Zack, who would shrug his shoulders as he strummed away on his bass. Alex was no longer trying to hide it, for the sake of trying to get a point across to Jack. Not to his surprise, though, it didn't work. Jack still rubbed up against Alex, and for a second he thought about shoving him away, but he knew that the fans would make a big deal out of it, even though he had every reason to practically push Jack off the stage.
Alex had been the target of Jack's antics before, but his behaviors had never been this bad. Normally, Jack would just lean against his back - the usual - sing into Alex's mic, and things like that - things that Alex could handle. But, tonight, Alex really was at his breaking point. He was completely fed up with Jack at the moment, and him messing up at least five songs so far definitely was not helping.
By the time the show ended, Alex had nearly walked off the stage without saying a proper thank you and goodbye to the fans. He made his way backstage, in their dressing room, then into the bathroom, locking the door behind him. He knew it was only a matter of time before his younger best friend came knocking at the door, wondering what he was doing. Alex cleaned himself up within ten minutes, and to his surprise, Jack hadn't come knocking at the door yet. He cautiously opened the door, the steam from the shower following him, and walked into All Time Low's dressing room. Rian was sitting on the couch, shirt off, on his phone.
"Where's Zack?" Alex asked him.
"Talkin' to Flyzik," Rian answered, looking up from his phone for only a few seconds. "Oh, by the way, Jack wants you."
"I figured," Alex scoffed.
"No, like he literally wants you," Rian allowed a chuckle to escape his lips. "He's backstage, cleaning up a little."
