Chapter 4 *Birthday Wishes Part 1: Secrets*

Low whispers filled the room

Voices Whispers: "Shh, she's waking up" I wake up to see my mom, dad and Zachariah screaming "Happy Birthday Keomae!" My dad has a trey full of breakfast: sausage, eggs, blueberry waffles with a cup of orange juice on the side, to top that off a blue flower in a little glass vase, with water half way up to the stem. He sets it down onto my lap.

Izekael: "Happy birthday my princess." He says as he leans in to kiss my forehead. What a wake up call that was, and I get breakfast in bed? I couldn't help but smile.

Keomae: "Wow, thank you so much you guys! Breakfast in bed? Mom, you didn't have to."

Isabella: "Non-sense sweetie, I love you. Happy birthday angel."

Keomae: "Thanks mom" I say as she leans in to hug me.

Finishing up my breakfast, Zachariah smiles at me, he comes to tell me that he has a surprise for me as well.

Isabella: "Go on Keomae, we'll be here once you come back." my mother says with a big grin on her face. Not reading to much into it, I hop into the shower and throw on this beautiful sequin dress, that had a feathery fluffy tutu at the bottom. I pin my hair half up with a sparkled blue rose clip as the rest of my hair falls onto my shoulders. With a quick spritz of jasmine I was ready to go.

Walking slowly for what seemed like awhile. Zachariah had his hands over my eyes till we finally came to a stop. Where was he taking me?

Keomae: "Zachariah, can I open my eyes now?" I ask giggling. He says "yes" removing his hands from my face, I opened my eyes and could not believe where we were. He has taken me to my favorite restaurant ever! Bartley's! They have the best burgers, fries, ice cream you name it and I need not forget to mention their delicious milk shakes, my favorite of all the Oreo's and cream milk shake, along with their awesome taste in music. If that wasn't a surprise enough he also managed to get the workers of the restaurant to clap and sing "Happy Birthday" to me. Blushing a little out of embarrassment I still enjoyed myself. Hands down the best surprise all day.

Zachariah: "Did you have fun Keomae?" He asks as we walk back to my place, walking off all that delicious food.

Keomae: "I had a blast! Thank you so much Zachariah." Wrapping my arms around him, giving him a bear hug. I go to open the door to my house, it was dark. I get the lights and mom and dad screams "Surprise!" I swear I almost had a heart attack. I walk into blue ribbons and balloons all around. Looking over at Zachariah I can tell he was in on the whole thing as he walks me over to the cake, that my mom and dad were standing next to.

Zachariah: "Make a wish Keomae."

Closing my eyes I make my wish...I wish for all the missing pieces to come together in my life. I open my eyes and blow out my 18 candles. Tears starts to form.

Isabella: "What's the matter sweetie?"

Keomae: "What more could a girl wish for, when everything is right here in front of her? I'm truly grateful. Thanks again everyone." I say giving all three of them a hug. I've been so stressed about my dreams lately, that I haven't much paid any attention to those around me. Maybe I was overreacting towards everything.

The day nearing its end and Zachariah has gone home with slices of cake for him and his family. Today was a great day. I head up stairs, as I'm about to pass my parents' room I hear them talking. The door was slightly cracked open, it almost sounds like they were arguing. I pressed my ear up against the door to listen in on their conversation.

Isabella: "No! No Izekael, not going to happen!" my mother yells. I've never heard her yell like that before.

Izekael: "Will you lower your voice, or do you want her to hear?" my mother starts to sob. What was going on? I continued to listen. "Don't cry my love...all I'm saying is that maybe she's at the right age now for her to understand the truth.."

Keomae: "The truth? What truth?"  I thought to myself as I pressed my ear closer up against the door trying to get better audio.

Izekael: "It's time Isabella." He went on to say.

Isabella: "(sobbing) No Izekael, I refuse to go through this again. I just can't...that's the end of this discussion. She will never know about the mirror." my mother says with her mind made up, she sounded more worried about something.

I go into my room, thinking about the conversation I had just overheard. What were they keeping from me, and why didn't my mother want to tell me? Something didn't feel right, there were way too many secrets that were hidden away in that conversation, and I'm going to get to the bottom of it. One way or another.
