AN: Please read Take Me Instead for details regarding the school.
"Heya Rave, what's up?" Hazel Jamison entered her dorm and flopped down on her bed, while addressing her friend Raven, who was staring out the window, lost in thought.
"Hmm?"
"I said, what's up? Are you alright?" Hazel looked concerned.
Raven sighed. "I got a call from my mom today. It's about my sister."
Hazel's eyes filled with concern. "Skie? Is she alright?"
Raven glared at the floor. "She got expelled."
"Oh."
Raven continued staring at the ground. "Since it's only a month till school is out, my parents are homeschooling her and having her take any finals online. She'll be coming here next year, as an upper first."
Hazel put her hand on Raven's shoulder. "Hey, she'll be ok, alright? EHPA is a great school, sometimes it works for people that normal schools don't work for. Besides, I'll be head girl again next year, I can look out for her."
Raven smiled. "I hope you're right, Hazel."
"Oh please, I'm always right."
"Ha, as if!"
Hazel grinned. If nothing else, she had at least made Raven laugh.
Raven thought about her little sister. Skie was tall for 10, with blonde hair cut to her shoulders, and the same bright blue eyes as her own. She was usually a sweet kid. Ok, that was a lie, they were fighting constantly. Still, she hated to see her little sis in trouble. Not that she would show it, but she cared for her a lot.
Hazel watched as Raven got lost in her thoughts.She had seen pictures of Skie, but she had never met her. She hoped that what she had said would be true; Skie would be ok here. Hazel had a feeling that she and Skie would be spending a lot of time together.
If she only knew how right she was.
AN: Please leave a comment! If you're interested in timing, this chapter takes place in May of Hazel's upper 3rd year, so about a month after Take Me Instead and 2 months after the creek. The rest of the story will begin in September of her upper 4th year.
