Naive and Innocent

The Past

"Hey stop that brat!" Law turn his head to the source of sound, a man, presumably to be a bread shop owner, yelled at a small young girl with a nice toasty bread in hand.

The girl kept running and the owner kept on chasing her, unaware they are heading straight for the Surgeon of death.
The girl collides with Law's long legs.

She look up at Law's intimidating face, frozen in fear she tried to run again only to be grabed by the former shichibukai. She keep struggling desprate to escape him"p-please--have m-mercy I-I have a sister a-and a-nd shes ill--a-and" "THERE YOU ARE YOU LITTLE BRAT!! GIVE ME BACK THAT BREAD YOU'VE STOLEN"

The furious Owner stomps closer to her, causing her to shrunk in Law's grasp. "How much for the bread?" "What?" "I'll pay for the bread"

"Ten Belly" Law took out his wallet and pay him up "now leave her alone." The man just grumbles and walk away "Be grateful to him you lucky brat"

"I-I'm so sorry sir, I-I'll repay you somehow" the little girl bows continuously "No need, just take good care of your little sister"

She runs off towards a dark alley, presumably where she left her younger sister.

Law sigh heavily, recalling how much the little girl reminds him the first time he met Midoriko.

--------FLASHBACK--------
A lovely afternoon, young Law and Corazon is still looking for a doctor, well....at least, Corazon did. They have been moving from city to city looking for a doctor who at least brave enough to do a check up on the ill boy.

Currently, they are resting in a city, Law is sitting by the dock, while Corazon walks off to find some foods for them.

As Law enjoying the breezes, a small hooded figure, presumably to be a child, bump to Law's shoulder and falls on her side. Of course it got Law's attention. He hops off the brick where he was sitting and rushes over to the child.

"Oi, are you okay?" The hooded child gets up and the hood fell off from their head, revealing a long dirty green hair, with a dirty face of a young girl, appears to be around half of Law's age.

Her aqua green eyes stared at him, but refuse to speak, instead, she nodded and continue to walk away. Law failed to notice a bundle in her arm until now. For a split second, he saw an infant, around one year old, blond hair hanging to his face.

The little girl's walk began to wobble until she cant hold it much longer, and falls on the ground yet again on her side.

Law was panicing, he dont know what to do, should he left her alone, should he help, or get help, but he cant find anyone to help because its a secluded area.

"Hey! Hang in there!" He cried, and the more he panicked qnd yelled, the baby started to cry.

"WAAAAAAAAAAA"

Law started to panic more as soon as the infant let out roar of constant wailing and cries. "C-corazon! H-he'll know what to do"

He look down on the young girl and carefully pick the infant first and hold him in one hand and then the girl with his one free to help her sit up.

The constant wailing of the baby are deafening his ears  so he tried to calm his cries, only to be failed.

"Law? What's going on here?" Corazon's voice make Law sigh in relief. "T-this g-girl s-she-- she just ..collapse a-and t-he baby wont stop crying"

Corazon was silent for a while , "Law give me the baby" without hesitant, he handout the wailing child.

Law was confuse for a moment

Until ...."Calm" Corazon activate his power on to the baby, he still cries, but there is no sound "there, problem solved" "THAT DIDN'T DO SHIT YOU DUMBASS" "THEN YOU FIGURE SOMETHING OUT" "YOU'RE THE ADULT HERE!YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO FIGURE SOMETHING OUT"

The argument got louder and louder it woke the frail little girl. She blink once...twice ....three times...until her visions cleared up.

She was taken a back when the first thing she saw is A grown up man holding her younger brother, who was crying yet no sounds was heard, arguing with a boy appears twice her age. She didnt know what to do, but all her mind filled with is how to take her baby brother back from the tall man.

Gather up what she had left of her strenght, she put her foot up supporting her body, trying to be brave with her wobbly legs with the help of the near by wall.

With a raspy voice "gi-give me back my brother!" She said. The two stop arguing and in sync look at the frail little girl. "Give him back" she tries charges at Corazon but her legs betrays her causing her to fell. Her robes fell off her revealing her nightgown. It looks tantered, riped, dirty, and caked with a black substance. It used to look like a very expensive nightgown.

Corazon regconized the black substances on her gown, and he had a pretty good idea where she might came from. He walk over to her and undo his spell over her brother and hand him back to her.

"Saburo!" She hug him kissing him and calm him down. The baby finally calm his cries down and began to fall back asleep.

"Where are your parents kid?" She look away, refuse to answer "we can take you back" "N-No--I-I cant Go back" they both look at each other then back to the girl "What happened?"

"I--I d-dont know-- S-some bad people stab M-mama -a-and Pa-Papa, t-they have red juices all over them-- t-then--then. B-bad people break our home.. stole mama's shiny stuffs--Papa's papers, pretty stuff, granny's shiny stuff ! A-and..burn our home down and ...and .....!" She breaks down after she remembers stuff she rather to forget.

"What the hell this kid goes through...." Corazon mumbles. Law rubs the girl's back attempted to help her.... somehow...

"What's your name kid?"

"M-Midoriko...Sonokawa"

Corazon thought for a while as her last name made an impact of familiarity. He kept trying to remember for a while, until it hit him.

Sonokawa was the name of a noble family, and a week ago, he read in the news paper, that the their mansion has burned to the ground, 2 corpses were found, burned to charcoal, pressumably to be Mr and Mrs. Sonokawa. But the 2 children were reported missing as no bodies was found. The goverment suggested that they may have been kidnapped and sold to slavery, the case is still under investigation.

The Sonokawa Headfamily's mother, Haruka Sonokawa (Aka Midoriko's grandmother) pay quite a fortune to the goverment, in hope to find her missing grandchildren.

Corazon then look back at the girl, still bawling her eyes out. Crouching down to her level, he said to her,

"Hey, kid..lets go find your grandma"

---Flashback ends--

"BOO!" A familiar voice pulled the Surgeon back to reality. Turning around he saw the same girl he was remembering just now. Besides her, is her younger brother, smiling as a sign of greet towards him.

"Midori? Saburo? What are you two doing in this island?" He ask. "Well, SOMEONE decided to cook with our last ingredients for this week and fails miserably" Midori snorted, glaring at the young captain while the said captain face away from her with a guilty look plestered on his face. "And so, we some more food supplies. And maybe a cookbook for Saburo" "Well forgive me dear Sister, for trying to learn how to cook" "you could've ask me first!"

Law smiles, he watches the two bicker as he remembers, They were weak and scared, back when they first met. He touches the wall of the bay near the sea....

Ah yes... its coming back to him

The day they first met right in that very spot.
