Lore : Okami (Ayumu's tailed beast) was excluded from the main ten so was 12 and 13 so they hid themselves away from mankind and went into a deep slumber until Ayumu came across Okami and they became close and he sealed himself inside to give him power. Now they are best friends. The story of how the mother of all jinchuuriki momoshiki exiled the 2 extra tailed beast is a sad tail but it is speculated that the sage of six paths had this happen so Okami and Ayumu could meet alas they met and there bond could never be broken. Okami says in his child hood him and kurama were best friends and still are and he also states he heard the sage of six paths tell him that his destiny is with the Shinobi with the Blue Sharingan.
