The guys were chilled. They were sorta nice and layed back. I liked them. They were telling me about how the three of them met each other, on our way to a place called "Rotten Grounds". They said I would like it after i told them about my zombie obsession. They were so excited, and so was I.
Franky and Brandon met Steve in the 6th grade and Brandon and Franky grew up together.
I told them my parents went away to a sort of vacation, and i was left at home with my older sister. I also told them i didn't have any friends really.
"You wanna be in our friend circle?" Steve suggested.
And so now i guess there was a friendship in progress.
They were all so nice and adorable. How could they be my friends? Yeah i don't know. Its just impossible, especially for a girl like me.
After a long period of walking and silence on the way to the grounds they started riding their boards slowly so that i could keep up with them. And all i could do was try to keep up walking behind.
I looked ridiculous, board in hand. Trying to keep up.
I threw my board on the ground and pushed off. I watched as they steered their boards from side to side and i copied. And i didnt fall! I was smiling pretty hard staring at my feet. The wind blowing in my not properly straightened hair. I enjoyed this feeling.
When I looked up i saw Brandon watching with wide eyes and the hint of a smile. I began to blush, and look away.
When we finally came to a stop we were in an alley like place. "Hey watch your step." Steve said as he pointed to the gap in the ground, and slithered down into the gap that led to the lower ground underneath. I took caution and Brandon held my board for me as i followed the same little manuever Steve did, trying to make my feet find the ground underneath. Brandon tossed me my board and he and Franky followed.
It was like an underground place. Well it was an underground place. It was creepy and it came to my liking. I guess the location was important for this park. And it created sort of a dead and rotten image. The walls were wet and green and moldy. Since we were underground it was dark and there were little dim green lights spaced about 5 yards apart along the top of the walls. That created a glow. Some of them even flickered. There was some slimy squishy stuff on the ground that i was so grateful i couldn't see . I had to ignore the sound it made as we walked or i would feel sick.
We sloshed and squished down the aisle, that I suppose led to the actual grounds. The air got chillier with every step.
We finally came in contact with a large moldy green arc that barely read, "Rotten Grounds"
The guys walked ahead, with me still following closely behind.
I could see the skating grounds slowly appear ahead. There were people riding up and down the pools and ramps. People grinding bars and benches. People falling and scraping their knees on the concrete ground. There was endless motion. I noticed as we got closer, everyone in the park had a mask on.
I grabbed a hold of Franky's arm in front of me. "Hey why do they have masks on?" i said
He made a face and Facepalmed himself. "Shit I completely forgot about that! Hold on" he said
"Hey guys! come 'ere"
Brandon and Steve turned around and walked to where we were standing. "W'sup doc?" Steve asked.
"We forgot our masks, and we didn't tell her about the mask situation" Franky with slight disappointment in his voice.
Brandon and Steve seemed as devastated as Franky. And cursed over and over.
Steve explained, "Ok so we were supposed to bring a sort of mask, so we would be incognito. It's a part of the rules,"-
"But we forgot ours." Brandon cut in.
I gave them all strange looks. "Well what happens if you don't bring a mask?" I asked shifting my feet which also made a disgusting sound.
That question struck all three of them. They were quite confused. Some kids were approaching us from behind, and they were ofcourse wearing masks.
Brandon cleared his throat"Hey you guys," He said trying to get their attention.
"yeah what?" a shorter one of the group replied.
"What happens if you forget your mask?"
He pondered the question for a few seconds, and finally replied, "Dunno dude, you're just supposed to bring your masks it's the rules." and advanced with the rest of his group.
"Wow, what the hell is up with knowing you're supposed to bring a mask and not knowing what happens if you don't bring one?" I remarked.
"Well it's just we've always brung our mask and everyone else has too, we don't really know the consequence." Steve said.
We started walking to catch up with the group ahead. "Well maybe its not a big deal, let's go" Franky said. Everyone clenched their boards.
I straightened up and hoped no one would say anything to us since we weren't wearing masks. But i had an uneasy feeling and i could tell the boys were nervous aswell.
