Y/N POV

I shuffled through the war council room, trying to keep my head down. Out of the corner of my eyes, I spotted unfortunately familiar faces: Mitsunari, Ieyasu, Masamune, but as I slowly lifted my eyes, I could see the Devil himself. Oda Nobunaga. His brown eyes fixated on me like a bloodthirsty hawk.

Mitsuhide stepped forward, "My Lord. I present to you, Princess Y/N." Small murmurs echoed round the room.

Nobuaga stood up, "Y/N? Where has she been? Was she captured by Uesugi or Kennyo? Worse?"

He was acting like I wasn't even there, speaking only to Mitsuhide. Anger started to build in my chest, like a searing ball of fire. My lungs felt like they were being strangled by a python as my heart rate pounded in my chest like a stampede of wilderbeast.

"No." I called out. Drawing Nobunaga's attention to me. "I was fine. I was doing fine."

He raised his eyebrows skeptically, turning towards Mitusuhide once again, "Where did you find her?"

"I was at Kennyo's base." I called out again.

"Just as I thought, good thing Mitsuhide found you. You should be thanking him, and begging for my forgiveness."

"NO!" I cried out even louder, "I was there, trying to save some friends. I didn't need help, they needed help. Well, I mean, I did need help to get into the base because something went wrong, and Mitsuhide gave me the keys and directions. That's the only reason why I'm here; we made a deal."

"Really? And were those friends of yours by any chance the ones who locked you up? Hm?"

"They only locked me up because I was associated with you!"

"Watch your tongue when speaking to Lord Nobunaga!" Growled Hideyoshi.

"Why am I even here?! You don't need me! I don't want to be here! Just send me back and you'll be fine without me!" I could see Nobunaga's temper rising as he slowly walked towards me.

"You people are crazy! You're keeping me here against my will! He killed to innocent people!" I said, indicating to Mitsuhide. Nobunaga drew closer, evermore furious.

"You're MONSTERS!!!!"

That was the last straw. Enraged, Nobunaga drew his hand up, and brought in down across my face.

Pain seared my left cheek, from where his rings that adorned his well-worked fingers had struck me. My head, still angled sideways from the force of his hand, shook with fury. My hands clenched into fists, and tears swum around my eyes, dangerously close to spilling over. There was silence in the room. I could feel my knife against my leg, screaming at me to lunge for his throat. But I knew Nobunaga's strength would overpower me in close combat.

I turned my head to face his. Our faces so close to each other, I knew he could hear my heart beat rattling in my chest. Instead of trying to kill him, or harm him. All I could muster were six words. A low and deep growl, thick with emotion and so quiet I was worried only he would be able to hear it errupted from my hoarse throat and a murderous glare stared down The Devil of the Sixth Heaven.

"I should have let you burn."
